Is there a list somewhere? If not, list a classic game (or games) that will work with that monitor in this thread. The only one I know of is:

Sound like the Toei CMA-20. It also only takes negative composite sync.

Well, that gives all the JAMMA cabs of course, but you asked for classics.

I recently put a neg-comp-sync-only monitor into my Carnival, which is a pos-sep-sync game. Turns out the board has the capability of outputting neg-comp-sync also, so I moved a pin on the edge connector and the monitor worked. Centipede, Williams games like Defender/Joust/Robotron, etc have this option, too. Obviously the Pac/Ms. Pac games, and I think Galaga. Probably a lot more...

Is it feasible to make a board that can convert syncs as to make monitors more compatible? I'm not sure what all permutations would be needed in the conversion to cover all/most of the classic cases. Is there something like this out there already? It seems like this could be useful seeing how mons are getting scarce.

You know, it could be that this monitor will only take games with positive syncs. I should probably check that out. I know it's one or the other. I'll check and post which one it is for sure. All I want is a list of games that will work with this monitor, as I have one and am not sure which games I can use it with.

There is a way to convert a separate positive sync signal into a negative composite sync signal. Since most games nowadays are JAMMA (which use comp neg sync), monitors today (even VGA) use that signal...

It's a trivial little circuit you can build with one of many common TTL gates. When I need one I just wire it up with a little bit of perf-board. Something like a 7400 or a 7404 can be used.

So, inverting sync signals is trivial. The only thing that is tricky is if you're trying to separate composite sync. Many monitors will accept it in one form or another, but if it *won't*, then you have to use something like an LM1881.
