Nabbed (3) Monitors off CL today for the cost of a used 25". Guy was really nice and didn't know there was such a market for games still, shame he told me they destroyed over 50 games and a handfull or more monitors :( (monitors plainly out of carelessness). He only had (1) 25" it was a K7194 which was mainly why i went out there. the other (2) i picked up i don't know much about but included some pictures. One is a Sharp Image 19" (Kortek KTA 915) the other is a 13" Electrohome G19411 (g19-FCO). I grabbed the 19" as a spare just to have for when i need it, while i plan on using the 13" for a test bench if possible, the 25" (not pictured) I plan on putting into my NBA Jam.

Shame it looks like there's a hairline crack on the flyback of the 25", the 19" looks brand new while the 13" is a dirty lil bugger.

I don't know a ton about monitors but i think i did alright what do you guys think? (check my photo's feel free to ask for more pics/specific pics).

19" (Edit: I think this is a SI-319 or basically Kortek KTA-915)

Nice pick up Brood. I peruse CL like a great white shark and Fargo rarely has anything pop up. Especially something like this. Good nab.

Well got around to testing all of them tonight/this morning.

the 13" G19 looks really nice for being so filthy:

The 19" has some slight issues at the top of the screen:

and most unfortunately the 25" has the same issue as the 19" but worse as well as the focus pot is pretty much worthess (no matter flyback is cracked anyways and will be getting replaced)

I just hope i can remedy these issues with a cap kit and flyback.

I don't know if NBA Jamz is the best board to evaluate a monitor as it is doesn't work with every monitor I have read.

Found it, the vertical sync is 56hz instead of 60hz. So you will want to adjust the 50-60hz pot like I said on Google+

http://www.jrok.com/hardware/RGB-FAQ.html
Are there any known problems. ?

The only known problems are with later Midway games such as Smash TV, NBA JAM, Mortal Komat ( 1, 2 & 3 ) . These games use a vertical sync. frequency of around 56Hz ( the majority of games having a vertical sync of around 60Hz ). This vertical sync. frequency appears to be incompatible with some Sony TV sets, most notably the Sony WEGA series. These sets cannot sync to this frequency and the picture will roll vertically.

This is NOT a problem with the output from the converter is it purely a problem with the TV receiver.

No dice on the 50/60hz adjustment, just shrank the screen more.

Jam is a fine board to use as that's the machine this monitor is going to call home and we all know how nice the 90's midway test menu's are with their pattern generators (honestly i haven't even gotten to using the patterns yet just trying to get it dialed in on the regular screen). I'm almost 100% sold on the thing just needing a rebuild...

No doubt it needs a rebuild.

Turns out the sync was hooked up to pin 9 instead of pin 10. I realized this after i spent a little time reading over the sticky'd K7000 common issues thread in the Monitor forum Post #132 ( http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=134818 ) thanks to cadillacman linking to this thread ( http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?p=2013150#post2013150 ) debunked by buffett.

The only reasoning i have for the sync being on the wrong pin is that this isn't the original monitor for the game. I'll have to de-pin the connector or just leave it 1 spot off for now. This is mostlikely the issue with the 19" as well but i haven't tried testing yet. I still plan on ordering a capkit and flyback for the 25" and now have a little more confidence when it comes to troubleshooting these.

Nice! Way to find the problem!!

Thanks, it was fun to figure it all out, nothing a little searching couldn't fix. I understand this isn't the monitors section but jeebus outside of that sub forum seems like no one knows anything about monitors lol (atleast they didn't speak up).

Funny i didn't even know what the 19" was when this all started.

now to order a capkit and flyback.

No one figured you connected the sync to the wrong pin... :p If I was there I would have noticed that. I am just surprised you got it to sync at all. What was connected to the sync pin? Or what pin was sync connected to?

I'm sure seeing the picture (on the screen) someone would know that that was the problem (after all that's how someone figured it out in the thread i linked).

pin 9 -vertical sync instead of pin 10 -horizontal sync

Well I wouldn't have known what it would look like as I never hooked one up wrong. :p
