CL Asshattery

Doooooooochhhhheeee

Anyway Frizz, take my advice and if you are going to be dealing with Craigslist - then set a time with the people and give them your cell number. Give them directions to get them into your neighborhood. Then have them call you when they get to the certain point and you will guide them the rest of the way in. I do this ALL the time now.

And keep a log file of your dealings. Never know when something might need records. It's scary how many no shows I've had and I was dumb and gave them my address. Thankfully nothing ever happened.

Actually, I never give my address to anyone. I give them rough directions after telling them my city, depending on how much they inquire for. I use the amount of directions the person asks for as a filter for who is/isn't showing up.

And once again Friz - you've sold how many games...and STILL get irritated at this stuff? ;) It just comes with the territory. If I'm home, I tell a person to call me when they are close. I'll give them one reminder call (which the deadbeats NEVER answer).

My experience was a little different. I was selling a non-arcade related item (big kids playground).

Had a guy come out, but his "wife" didn't make it out as his kid was sick. He starts asking questions like "will you be around during the week?" I say "yes, my wife will". "During the day?" "Yes, my wife will, she doesn't work". Then he notices one of my dogs looking at him through the window, at which point the dog starts barking like crazy. "oh, you have a dog?" "Yup, we have two. we have to keep them in the house as the one barking hates strangers". About 30 seconds later a made an exit.

He was totally scoping my house, but the dog, alarm, etc scared him away... At that point, I decided that I am only selling high value items on CL (this was a $1500 playset).

PS, dog wouldn't hurt a fly ;)
