Typical CL story. Dude emails me Tuesday, "Hey man, I really want to come take a look at your Asteroids. I can't make it until Thursday as I am out of town. Can I come by and look Thursday if you still have it?"

"Sure" I say... set up a 6PM time for him to call...

Thursday rolls around, no call - no show. 6:30PM I leave him a voicemail. At about 7PM I get an email that reads:

"still interested had a problem today will call tomorrow,
very sorry"

I reply, "No worries...give me a buzz tomorrow around the same time and we'll make arrangements for you to come take a look"...

...6PM came and went...6:30 came and I called and left another voicemail. No response thus far. Dooosh.

his wife has either got him working on the honeydo list, or he has kids that need this, that, and the other, or maybe a combo of both. folks that have done me this way, just basically have a life. he should at leaste call you though.

I had a similar situation last weekend with CL. I decided to list the Double Axle game I aquired a few weeks ago since it wasn't one of my favorites and my daughter didn't like it at all. For a few days I get no action (besides the usual scam about shipping it somewhere) so I guess oh well no sale. Then I get an email on Saturday morning to call a guy because he wants it.

I call him and make arrangement for between 4-6 that day. 6 comes and goes and nothing. I get a call form his wife and she says he really wants it but he can't get away to look at it. I tell her Sunday at 7 or so then and she says great.

7 comes and goes and nothing. I call and she tells me they run a pizza joint and they are really busy and she'll call me back when she's done with deliveries. 8:30 the phone rings and she says he can be there by 9:30 so I agree.

He shows up at 9:30, looks at it and plays it, checks out my other games, gives me my asking price and I help him load it up and gone.....back into the wild in a pizza joint.

If all the horrific flaky lame-ass CL stories I hear I was suprised that this one worked out well. Maybe you'll have the same luck and Asteroids will be gone...... - Barry

I working on a similar 'shaky' CL deal..

buyer wants the game.. paying extra for delivery.. but next weekend..

alot can happen in a week +

I'll be surprised if it works out... but we'll see...

I recently sold a car that was located a a property my wife and I own about 25 min from my house.. I had 2 different ppl that called and asked me to come and show it to them - within the hour - I drove out - no show... called their cell - no answer.. What is wrong with ppl? Why did you even ask me to show it to you if you didnt plan to show up?

Pretty typical , thats why I usually go with first come first serve .

If/when he finally shows up, the price of your Asteroids suddenly went up $25 for a "douchbag" fee!:D

Another craigslist asshole. Soon nobody will be able to buy or sell anything on craigslist at all because everyone will be a stupid asshole like this dude you had to deal with...

you know, oddly enough the only times i've ever had that happen was when i've sold cars. don't know why, but selling games i've always had people show up when they've said they would.

It never fails to amaze me that when I guarentee an exact time to be at someone's place and get there 1-5 minutes early, never late, they are not there, and I wait around and finally they show up or I leave and they have some excuse for not being there at the right time when I call / email them later.

Then on the other hand, I'm fairly flexible and give a 2-4 hour time period when someone can drop by, and they show up 2 hours after that (when children are asleep) or not at all, and nary a call or email.

Is promptness and honoring times a lost art?

I woudn't take it too personal, this crap happens all the time. Just think of yourself as a store and sell it to the next guy if this doesn't come though. If you keep contacting him and getting bent then you just look desperate.

I tried for 6 months to sell an Opt Thunderbolt. Almost everytime I would list it, this one Guy would write, claiming he wanted it, and that he would stop by on whatever day. Then never show. I'd write back, never an answer. This went on, at least 4 times. I started to think the guy was just trying to lower the price. Which I wouldn't do, cause it was already to cheap. I didn't think I'd ever be able to sell that thing.

Anyway, I finally managed to trade it for a nice, non-working DKjr. Which turned out to be a sweet deal.

I guess there are alot of flakey people out there. Thankfully there are a few that still do what they say.

Re:

Hmmm...Kinda reminds of something similar...eBay..*cough*. Sometimes people just have second thoughts I guess, kind of like buyer's remorse before the actual buying. There have been times when I have spoke to someone on the phone from CL and they kinda creeped me out. But yeah, it's rude to set a time and give out your address to someone unknown person and they don't end up showing or answering their cell phone.
