Yeah, this is a Price Police thread, but the opposite of the usual stone-throwers. I keep seeing these ads popping up in the Portland Craigslist and thought "Hey, that's pretty nice."

-The ad is tastefully presented.
-The price is high to us, but not overkill for a economically stable family rec-room.
-The machines are hand-built, and coated in simple, and thought-out art.

So, I was just curious if this was anyone here on KLOV. If so, not a bad job on your machines. Priced to still make some cash in your pocket, yet not too out of the ordinary considering all your parts.

What do the rest of you think? I mean I like it compared to the other crap mulitcades I see on craiglist, but that doesn't mean we should start sucking this guy's dick just yet. For the price, I think it should still have a coin mech setup, so that bar owners can make some money too.

I met one of the multi machine makers last week. He buys whole machines that partially or fully work, guts them and repaints and what ever else is needed to make them look nice. Then adds an LCD and 60-1 setup. While I was at his house I asked, "So out of curiosity what are you actually getting out of these?" HE gave me a weird look so I quickly added, "I repair and restore the originals not this multi garbage I'm just curious is all." He claimed he normally gets $1800-$2200 and sells 3-4 a month.
Jeebus I thought that's friggin awesome money!
Now there's an asshole in Aloha that also sells mutli's. He's a complete idiot and his work at best is shit. He also kills classic cabinets which pisses me off.
Anyway then you have a third guy listing multi's that he traded complete machines for and is listing maker #2's shitty machines as his own.
IMHO there is NO excuse for killing a classic when the game is in nice shape. These guys are simply in it for the money not the love. It seperates me from them. I can't stop them - I can only give them my money so another classic may live.

I should add, I don't know who the lister of the add is you brought up. But I agree they sure look nice as so does his ad.

I thought the control panel on that thing looked pretty nice and functional for a 60 in 1.

Deadly, I totally agree with your assessment of the guy in Aloha.

It sure ain't me. Never touched a game for profit, ever.

I don't mind this guys stuff too much. The cabinet is all new, the monitor is an LCD, its a Chinese PCB, and HAPP controls. Nothing there is on the endangered list. Only thing I don't like is profiting from the illegal software that runs it.

That being said, I hope his coherent ad, and apparent business sense, puts those other cabinet killers out of business.

hmmmm, non of you dudes eh? I think I know the guy from Aloha that you speak of. I beleive I bought soem boards off him a while ago.

Compared to our local round-up of beat-up wreck multicades, these definetly seemed nice. Plus as you said Bricktop, the cabs are all new from scratch. I like that.

While I think it looks okay, and the price is a little higher than I would expect unless it's a retail shop, I personally wouldn't buy without seeing an actual cab.

If you look very closely, it appears they found a picture of a generic cab and photoshopped all the elements onto it. The speaker grills are graphics, the "screen" is a graphic, even the control panel looks like a graphic if you look closely.

If you really want to be taken seriously (and $1900 is a serious price), then go build one and take actual pics of it for your ad....

yeah the upper picture definetly had the screen shopped on. I can understand why. But the other stuff being photo enhanced, I don't know, pretty far stretch.

If I were buying it, then yes there would be no doubt that I'd want recent pics of the one I'm coming to buy.

Yeah looks good but the Tron graphics should not of been used being it's not even one of the games.

looks cool though...

and unless you knew they were Tron, you wouldn't really be too offended. To the unknowing, it just blends in well with the controls and other black arts.
