CL - $50 Missile Command - Burnsville, MN (not mine)

Somebody go grab it, quick! Non-working, but looks to be in great shape. I never cared for Missile Command, otherwise I'd be all over this...

Missile Command Arcade Video Game -- Atari - $50 (Burnsville)
I have owned this commercial coin operated Missile Command video game since the early 1980's. It had been in my basement for many years. Then my garage for the past 12 years and had worked perfectly up through the last time I played it about 8 years ago.
Just powered it up and the monitor lights up, but the game circuit board is not responding properly. It may just be the circuit board connection, but do not have the knowledge to troubleshoot myself.
I have the keys, plus limited instructions on the inside of the back door.
Selling as is for $50 or best offer.

I left my number with the seller, haven't heard back. It's really one of the last games I was looking for before I am done buying/restoring.

Would be cool to see you get your hands on that game.

Yeah, it'd be nice, but I know how the flippers are around here, so I won't hold my breath. If I don't get it, that's one less project to worry about. It does look to be in nice cosmetic shape though, so it may be a quick one if I can figure out if it's the board or the power supply causing problems.

Today, 4:35 A.M. :

"I have received 16 offers for this Missile Command in less than 12 hours!

4 offers higher than my asking price.

Obviously I listed it too cheep.

I paid $2,000 back in 1983.

Can you tell me what you think I should be selling it for?

JGV"

Good job assholes. This is why this section sucks balls.

Considering this post wasn't made until 6:30am, I don't think this post had anything to do with it. There are always going to be the assholes who offer more and wreck things for everyone, which is why I didn't bother responding in the first place. I could see this coming a mile away. Don't need KLOV posts for those people to find the cheap CL ads.

I've passed on a $25 missile command before.

They made a lot of them - more will come up for sale for cheap.

Everyone chill...

No kidding, it's not like it's some big secret. If the initial response wasn't the nail in the coffin on this deal, this thread certainly will be. Which is why I loathe this section and it's "good samaritan" posts that yield exactly the opposite.

This ad obviously needed more exposure, good looking out rocket.

The thing about ads like that is that it can be really difficult to work them, extra exposure doesn't really matter as any given area has 10 guys running craigslist apps looking for games.

If the seller posts the ad in the morning and then heads off to work, then you have no chance, the amount of interest they receive is going to spike the price.

If you are at work, then you have no chance, someone else will get it before you do.

If it is a weekend then you have no chance, too many people off work and ready to go get the machine right then and there, one of them will probably be faster.

If it is a weekday and both you and the seller are home then you have a chance if you can leave for the game immediately.

Oh, for Pete's sake...

The Craigslist ad was posted at 3:14pm CDT on Wednesday. Everybody with a Craigslist app on their phone knew about it within half an hour. The seller probably had 10 responses in the first hour alone.

I started this thread at 7:36am CDT on Thursday. At that point the ad had already been up for more than 16 hours. I figured that one of you guys had probably scooped it up already and would want a chance to brag.

Can anyone believe that the seller was dumb enough to actually pay $2k for a Missile Command back in 1983? $2k was the list price for a brand new one in 1980.
(or that we're dumb enough to believe that he paid $2k for one?)

I actually have some old sales sheets from an outfit in Ohio. In 1984, they were selling used-working Missile Command games for $195.
