Cityscape or Moon. Favorite Space Invaders Black Light Cover?

I have an SID cabinet, but I also have both the SI Moon and the SID cityscape. Which is your favorite, and which would you use? Should I keep it original and install the cityscape, or add a little of SI's charm and go with the moon? The cityscape seems dark and doesn't glow very well. The moon seems bright and glows real nice. I also have the 8 in 1 multi-kit installed, so I am playing both games in the machine anyway. WWYD?

I liked the simplicity and color of the moon. Seemed like less clutter behind the screen to throw off your aim too.

The plastic SI moon glows nicely as you said. The SID cardboard is pretty dull in comparison. If I had to choose between the two the SI moon wins easily.

I'd go with the moon art. I love the way that glows.

I think the moon looks great on SI. Can you post a picture of the city scape? I'm not familiar with what it looks like.

Looks cool up close, but gets lost in the actual game. It's also a little busy, so lower enemy shots get lost.

I've always been partial to the cityscape because it's original and I'm a SID person. To me it just goes with the game better, but that's just based on opinion.

Even though the moon is cooler, if I had a Space Invaders Deluxe I would keep it original and stick with the city.

If I had your fancy-schmancy restoration skills I would put a subtle hint of fluorescent paint on the cityscape to make it pop more with the blacklight.

I wonder if highlighters would work?

I recently played a SID at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Vegas and a SI at Gorfchampion's arcade. I prefer the SI moon as it's less busy than the cityscape. As others have stated
it's easier to lose track of the alien missiles in the cityscape background.

Do you have a moon backdrop all ready or is someone currently reproducing them? I see that Rich at TOG has produced them in the past but is currently out-of-stock.

The moon is pretty cool looking....

Does anybody know of or have a scan of the SID starfield cardboard background? Mine is gone.

I got a used one from Bigsleepy a few weeks back. It works out pretty nice, not as bright as a new one from Rich, but it works. No matter what I do with the cityscape it won't light up very bright. I tried highlighters, and it looks better, but still not as good as the moon. I'll mount the cityscape to the top of the cab or frame it or something. I'm going with the moon.

Scan it and have Rich print a special Phetized version in black light ink. This could be as cool as your Lost Tomb kickplate art. :)

Edit: But just don't "Tron" it out... That will be so done over in a couple months more of Tronifying everything.

Me no understand what you mean.

Make a custom background. Some of your custom work is your best.

You mean behind the light fixture? The big space backdrop? Mine is in mint condition. I am talking about the light cover, the moon-shaped cityscape that sits in front of the backdrop that's not lighting up very well. I'd love to add some detail to the background, but I wouldn't wanna wreck it.

The cover is what I was talking about... Making a custom City scape that glowed better in the black light. Either way, sounds like the moon is a go.
