CitriStrip, Goof Off, Magic Eraser, Novus, or Leave It Alone?
I'm embarking on my first restoration(s) and I wanted to get just a little guidance. I went back and read through 50 pages of this forum and it's been very helpful, but I don't have a background in this so am not feeling super confident. I wish I had some empty, water-damaged cabinet I could test and practice all this stuff on, but I don't and don't want to mess up my cabs trying out something and having it eat through the original paint job etc.
I'm going to post up some close-ups of problem spots on my cabinets and I want you to tell me whether you would fix them using Citri Strip, Goof Off, Magic Eraser, Novus, something else, or simply leave it alone. Sounds like fun right? FWIW overall I feel my games are in pretty good condition...I just want them to look as great as possible.
(edit: also note I haven't done a basic cleaning of the exterior of the cabinets yet)
1.
Two elements to this one: The red (paint?) stuff, and those three spots where the previous owner tried to touch up the cabinet, but the color is obviously off and it doesn't blend in with the cabinet. There are a bunch of these touch-ups that don't look that good on the cabinet.
2.
Some white stuff, some smudges, and another touch up paint spot
3.
More haphazard touching up
4.
Vertical white scuff mark, various smaller white marks
5.
White paint or something right on the original stencil. I am definitely wary of messing up the red/blue side art areas.
