I recently picked up a Solar Quest and reading the manual noticed it has a list of common parts that fail. What I want to know is that you collectors that have these games how many times have you repaired a PCB using this list, or is it more parts than the list has.

May CCPU pcb when powered on the LED never goes out and I hear what sounds like a jet engine for sound. Check +5dc, checked out. Do I shotgun the boards with parts from the list, or should I just find someone to repair the PCB?

It can be anything on those PCB's and anyone who tells you otherwise; is lying to you. LOL. I've fixed many, but i'm not setup to do them right now. You can try Mark Shostak @ http://www.cinelabs.com as that is who I trusted with my own when I had to move my shop. He takes a while though, so I wouldn't blame you if you found another route. Alex @ http://www.elektronforge.com/ might do them as well (not listed, contact), but again - wait time is high.

Whatever route you go be forewarned, if your work is not competent the repair bill could go UP. Good luck.
