Chuck E. Cheese launches arcade for adults

Largely ignored this topic until now.

Was watching KTLA and they had a small blip about one of these opening up at the Brea Mall. That kind of hits home for me because that's where I first played arcades as a little kid. The original Arcade in the mall was right outside the skating ring they had their at the time. My mom worked foe the city of Brea and there was a couple of hours between school ending for the day and her shift ending. Each day I would walk from school to her office and she'd give me a few dollars to go play at the arcade until she was off work. This is where I found my love of Galaga, Spy Hunter and several others. If I budgeted right I could only use a few quarters and spend the rest on a slice of pizza and soda while watching the pretty girls on the skating ring. This was my whole life between 3rd and 5th grade. lol

I may head out with the wife and kids to check it out just for old time sake. Not expecting anything crazy but it should be fun for a hour or so. It's been years since I was at the Brea mall.

My good buddy tells stories all the time about growing up at the Brea Mall playing arcade games. That place sounded legendary. You guys are lucky.

I'm not sure if all Chuck E Cheese's were like the one near me growing up. Ours was a former adult theater. When you walked in there was a souvenir stand on the left. Making a left had an enormous booth seating area and the snack bar to order food. Off that was a room with tables (I think with TV's). This is where I would go after school and get a basket with a hot dog, potato chips, and pickle. Next to this room was the party room with long tables and the animatronics. It was in this party room where I had at least one birthday party. I came across a picture not too long ago from that party where I was opening gifts. Right outside was the skeeball and all the other games scattered around. I remember Dragon's lair for sure when I was in elementary school. I also remember Gauntlet and Paperboy. Dragon's lair 2 was there shortly after it came out.
