Ok. A couple years ago, I got an NFL Blitz that was converted to a WWF Royal Rumble...
I did not want to convert it back to NFL Blitz so I decided to Mame it. Just something simple and easy...
I was talking with an old co-worker who said he wanted me to build him a Mame cabinet for his kids for Christmas. I didn't really feel like trying to find another cab, stripping it down, fixing it up, finding and setting up a computer, etc. I told him I'd just sell him the one I had, make the CP 4-player (he has 3 kids), and change the artwork. It would be much easier. So that's what I did. I had purchased a 26" Vision Pro LCD monitor for it a while ago and just decided to leave it in there as I didn't want to deal with any headaches if the CRT that used to be in there started giving them problems.
All I had to do was change the artwork (his name is Stoner), re-do the CP and deliver the cab...
Me and a friend got the cab delivered Christmas Eve day and his wife quickly covered it (for this next part, I need to say that the guy I did this for is in Afghanistan right now). I get a Facebook message that evening that read...
"I cant say thank you enough. I just got done skyping with my family and my boys are on cloud 9. they are so high right now that my wife is never going to be able to get them to bed tonight. They dont even care about any other presents. I would have never been able to give my boys something that nice without you as a friend. I wish I was there, they are so excited right now. They kept saying that was your friend hugh? thats got to be an arcade machine right? What did you get us? It has to be a arcade game of some sort? They want to know whats under the sheets and bag so bad. Seeing them like that is what Christmas is supposed to be. Thank you again for all that you have done for my family with that present."
Christmas morning I get another FB message with an attached picture...
"My wife says the boys are pinging off the walls with excitement. My oldest put a picture of it up on his facebook saying 'Best Christmas Present Ever'"...
That's it. Just felt like sharing this great Christmas story.
