I recently saw this thread about some Christian Songs/Bands actually having some pretty good music...

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=158350

I just thought I would mention - that my wife and I are friends with a lot of these bands (I have worked in radio for 16 years so have gotten to know quite a few of them)
The reason I mention this is - everytime a band comes to town - they end up at our house playing games! 2 weeks ago Toby Mac and his band played a show a few blocks from our house and true to form - the band crashed at our house BEFORE and AFTER the show to PLAY GAMES!!!

Just goes to show you - when you have a classic arcade collection - a lot of ppl come out of the woodwork to play!

I love TOBYMAC. I've seen him at least 5-6 times in concert.
His music is amazing and is used in my movies, commericals and the NFL.
Been a Tobymac and Skillet fan for over 10 years.

Him and his band can come over to my arcade anytime.
Steve

Yeah Toby is a great guy... I have known him for some time now. His music is amazing and he has had an incredible career so far. With all that being said - he is a good friend. His band members are awesome too. I gotta give a shout out to my buddy Bryron "mr talkbox" Chambers, My man Gabe Real, Timmy (the die-hard fisherman), Shonlock, and Toddie!

Gabe is actually a die hard gamer too - so he was in shock when he came over. Mac Powell (Third Day) wanted to come but couldnt get away from the venue... that would have been cool.. he's awesome!

That's really cool to be able to hang out with them. I enjoy listening to that strain of music, but prefer the heavier stuff: Living Sacrifice, Believer, K626, etc.

:headbang:

Dude, I'm still waiting for a DC Talk reunion! Come on TobyMac, make it happen! :D

I was just talking to Toby about that - its one of those things that I think he should do before he transitions more into the AC style of "City on our Knees" Its one of those things that everyone wants - but I dont know that it will happen. Plus Michael has a good gig right now with the Newsboys since Peter's departure.. and he probably doesnt want to screw that up. I love the Newsboys and Mike is a great guy - I've hung with him many times - but its just NOT the Newsboys anymore. My hope is that Peter gets tired of RETIREMENT and comes back - although I know he has sold all of his interest in the band.

As far as the Harder stuff - Skillet is awesome but have you heard Family Force 5??? Now they are awesome!

BTW - Toby and Skillet are going out on Tour together

I wish something as cool as that happens at my arcade. However, I do have church youth gameday out at my house every 1 to 2 months with 30+ in attendance. They seem to enjoy it.

Yeah, Newsboys without Peter Furler is not Newsboys. It was already unfortunate when Phil Joel decided to part ways. As cool as Michael Tait is, the new Newsboys is just the new Tait. But it's great they are all friends. They should just form a mega band with DC Talk doing their thing and Newsboys rocking the beats. How cool would that be? I'm thankful I got to see DC Talk live once in my lifetime at Spirit West Coast 1998 I believe.

That would be awesome! Saw both DC talk and Newsboys at Creation BITD, along with many other good bands (POD, etc.). VERY good shows.

Many people think "Christian" bands are boring, and it's nice to show people that this is not always the case.

Thanks for sharing! When can I come over to meet some of the bands? ;)

Chris

Yes indeed I have heard lots of FF5, even saw them in concert once. Both my daughters love them!

You guys would be cool to hang around. As I think my nephews would love to hange video game parties. With no booze, drugs, nothing. Just Christian music and Christian fun. As well as hanging out. As you don't need those negative things at all. Just to have a good time.

+1. Not familiar with K626 but I'm a big fan of LS and Believer. Impending Doom and Bride are a couple other current favorites. Wish Tourniquet would put out another album.

Do any of them play the Satan's Hollow?

Why wouldn't they? It's just a game. If I actually liked the game I wouldn't hesitate to own one even though people from church would see it.

That's really cool.

It's nice to see all this talk about Christians in a positive way.

Why not have a huge Christian arcade Expo... it could be "the other CAX"

my wife and i just saw The Afters, Leeland, and Sanctus Real this past saturday in cincinnati...we had vip tickets and got to meet all 3 bands before the show...great music and a great time

Too funny - my wife and I were in Cleveland on Saturday night to see Family Force 5 and Remedy Drive - the night before at the same place Leeland, The Afters and Sanctus Real played..

Leeland is awesome - he is a great guy and very talented for his age! Josh from the Afters is also a cool guy!

I guess that anybody would listen to Christian Rock music would be able to see it as a game.

The real overboard Hardcore "Fundamentalists" would not think that Satan's Howell is acceptable. But then again, they wouldn't think that DC Talk is acceptable either.

I have relatives that are (or more appropriately) were of the latter.
