Just wanted to put a shout out to my homeboy Chris! He is the man when it comes to monitor chassis. I just got a rebuilt G07 from him, 10 minutes of installing, a quick turn of the horizontal frequency pot and a monitor is reborn.

He is as much a national treasure of the Great Inland Empire of Minnesota as the Spam Museum (link).

Thanks Chris. Now I just need to figure out where to go next on these other two chassis......I'm stuck in the little box that says if you're here call Randy Fromme....:(

Austin MN is the home of Hormel. There is actually a pretty awesome documentary in the prelinger archives on the plant over at archive.org

Just follow the link in the original post to all sorts of Spam Knowledge goodness....

What's wrong with your other two chassis?

There is not neck glow and they seem to be having trouble in the high voltage section. On the RF G07 flowchart:

Blank screen -> F901 OK -> F902 OK -> Voltage check = Too high (167V) -> Remove X701. Voltage still too high -> Horizontal deflection failure. Check for cracks = No. Check for bad solder joints = No. -> voltage on X01 = 166.5V

I have not tried to test X501 or substirute IC501 yet. I was going to make a run to FRy's to see if they had any x501 (looks like NTE198 is the replacement) transistors. It looks like IC501 is something of a specialty item (HA11244).

But there is definitely no Hi Voltage going to the anode. When I attempt to discharge it, there is no spark, even immediately after testing it.

I just had one that was having the same issues... It's the IC, atleast it was on mine... you have the exact same measurements I had. Shame the ICs are so expensive, I just had to rob one from another G07 to get the monitor to where it should be.

Yep... IC501...

If you find any for really cheap, lemme know... I'll go in on a few of them with you. I need to replace atleast one on the monitor I just robbed and I'd like to keep them on hand so I don't have to go through that again.

Since this is turning into a repair thread, I'll recap (no pun intended) the lowlights and repost in the monitor repair thread.

Thanks.
