Choplifter PCB troubleshooting - no video / sound on two PCBs
Hey folks,
I recently acquired two Sega Choplifter PCBs (the common System 2 style), and I am having the same problem with both: no video or sound.
I am using a Retroelectronik JAMMA supergun, RGB to VGA converter (the usual), and a JAMMA adapter. The same setup has run plenty of other PCBs just fine. With this setup, both boards are getting power (the LED lights up), but really that is the only sign of life. The video signal seems to sync, i.e. the converter doesn't complain about "no signal", but it is black.
Both boards are nearly identical: they have the common patch wires / resistor on the parts side. One of the boards has two ICs in sockets that are soldered on the other one.
The only real tool I have for troubleshooting is a multimeter, but I can get a logic probe if you think that would help.
Any ideas on diagnosing or fixing this? Thanks!
