Got a few Choplifters, this particular one was "untested".... Plugged it in and POP!....the magic smoke was released. Nothing look fried but it sounded like a cap but couldn't figure out where..
Game came up and played, but there was no sound.
Start probing around the LA4460 amp and noticed the mute line was stuck low so everything was muted.
Used schematics and traced this back to a Resistor array at IC51 which was a TD2003 which was in the same area I saw the smoke and a leg was a little suspect looking. Removed from the board and tested faulty.
Replaced with a part from a junk parts board and the sound was restored. Going to assume this is what popped....I cant find anything else and the board works.
