Choplifter Hostage Eject

Was this ever in the instruction sheet at the arcade?
Most Choplifters are conversions from something else as this was largely sold as a conversion kit, so don't know if instruction cards came with it or not. A dedicated Choplifters in the correct Sega cab with the checkered sides is kind of a scarce thing. I don't know if they had an instruction card or not. Maybe someone with a dedicated cabinet can chime in. Mine is a conversion and not dedicated (as are most of the ones I've seen for sale).

Very cool feature. Nothing in the manual or flyer about it. It seems the most you can eject is 4 before you hit the ground. Any hostages that parachute out won't be saved (even if you're over your base!) but they won't die.

The Sega Master System version is based on the arcade version. It only has the first 3 levels (which repeat) and the manual doesn't mention the parachute feature (http://www.digitpress.com/library/manuals/sms/choplifter.pdf), but if any home version has it, it'd be this one since they're both made by the same company the same year. Pretty sure the home versions prior to that don't have this (there's 2 different versions for the Atari 8-bit computers and neither one has it).

Level 1: ground
Level 2: sea
Level 3: caves
Level 4: skyscrapers

IMO, Caves is just the hardest level,it took me forever to learn how to do it and finally complete the level ( that was a lot of 10p pieces ).
Bastard falling rocks would get me everytime !!!

Level 4: skyscrapers

That make sense since there's skyscrapers on the title screen.

Just tried SMS Choplifter. There's no parachuting hostages if you get hit, but you can eject someone! It's not mentioned in the manual, but if you keep pressing FIRE (Button 1), hostages are ejected in what looks like jetpacks as you're crashing (and they'll fly to the base and be saved!). Most I can get to eject is 2 at once.

This was mentioned on another site (http://www.ign.com/wikis/arcade-cheats/Choplifter!_Cheats) but the description of how to do it is wrong.
