I am trying to make a decision on these two games. I am leaning more towards Galaga for some reason, but I like the way the cabinet looks on Galaxians. Gameplay seems identical,or is it just me? Which would you guys choose and why??

Galaxian all the way. The cabinet is just that much cooler. If you can find a board that plays both games faithfully, stick it in a Galaxian cab and call it good. I have heard Galaga is more fun, but Galaxian is more challenging. I have a Galaxian cab and love it.

Prepare for people arguing here. I think the cabinet is 10 times better on Galaxian, however the gameplay moves along at a snails pace for me. I'd go with Galaga if you care less about looks and more about replay value.

I love both.

I'm glad you brought this up, though - is there a multi-Galaxian board, similar to the multi-Pac? Seems there were so many games made on Galaxian hardware...

Thanks for the advice guys. This is a hard decision for me because I want people to play and I want to enjoy it myself. It will be replacing something that never got played so it's gotta be good. Are they both revolving level games IE: never ending?

Yeah, never ending.

Galaxian:
the first one
awesome cabinet art
more difficult than Galaga

Galaga:
the one that EVERYBODY knows
dull cabinet art
gameplay is too easy
more variety than Galaxian (bonus rounds, morphing aliens, double fire)
safe choice for any player regardless of age, skill level, etc.

I'd go with Galaxian, but if you're thinking in terms of wide appeal Galaga is the way to go.

Galaga for sure. The cabinet might not be as good as Galaxian, but the gameplay is twice as good. Plus, it is a very recognizable game.

Galaxian, far more challenging gameplay. I'd also go one further and say get a cocktail, unique control panels similar to Space Invaders cocktails.

This has been discussed many times here, but in my opinion go with Galaga. It will always get played when you have people over. Of the 16 games currently in the Cliffhanger Arcade, the Galaga and the Jurassic Park Lost World always get the most play when people come over.

The Galaga cab may be more boring than the Galaxian one, but the crowd pleaser is definitely Galaga. Power-ups, I love Galaxian, but it's just too slow in my opinion. It also doesn't switch-up gameplay like Galaga does when you get double-ships and bonus rounds. For those that say Galaga is too easy, wait until you get into the higher stages and say that. Unless you're an expert, it's not that easy to maneuver through bullets and diving ships with two ships of your own on the bottom of the screen.

You want the one people will play the most... IMHO get Galaga.

I love both games, but if you want something that will get played go with Galaga. Galaxian gets much love here, but if the people who come over to play your games are just your average gamers,go with Galaga. It is more widely known and probably get played more.

I agree, Galaga is a more fast paced game and varies with each wave, Galaxian is slower but does have a nicer looking cabinet.

This is like choosing between your dog and cat. Well not exactly that, the dog will always win there. How about choosing between you first born and second born children. Love both of them.
