Chicken Sam or STJ

I am aware of that listing. I have a chassis. I am just trying to figure out the difference between my chassis and a stock chassis. It came with some tubes installed. If it comes down to that, I will compare the tubes and go with it. It is only a 50/50 chance of getting them in the right spot.

I guess they modified it to use the newer style tubes 2050 and 6sq7. You can always put the chassis back to original with the original tubes.

I have been working on my bell. It is controlled by an internal relay closure on the amplifier. The coil on the bell is 230 ohm and has a small diameter.

The bell will ring if you manually depress the right score relay. It does not appear to score unless sensitivity is at "0".

With the tube lineup changed they might have biased the tubes incorrectly. Also the tubes might might need their plate voltages changed. You will have to check the tube characteristics in a tube manual

My earlier statement of only working at "0" was incorrect. I am at the point now that I have to hook up the coin box and finish my gun to do any further testing.

I see that you were the one that bought my coin holder. I was searching up in my garage for gun parts and came across it.

Making progress on this. Now, I have to focus on my paint job before I can get my gun and other harness installed. I had my reversing relay fail. I used a pinball relay bank and kept the old coil.

I am working on my amplifier. I cannot get a direct hit. The schematic calls for a 923 photocell. I used one of my 928 photocells. They both use pin 2 and 4 for light output. The schematic shows pin 2 and 3 being used. Has anybody else have a working unit that show the correct configuration?

I might have made progress with my amplifier. The schematic has multiple pages of one unit and a two-page fold-out for another unit. They are not the same and are based on the serial number on the unit. My luck that I need to use the small-print two-page fold-out.

It has been a long 4 months. I started working on my amplifier in November. The schematic shows the photocell as 2/3. The photocell is actually 2/4. This did not take me too long to figure out. I re-wired the whole amplifier 2 times starting on my 4-day Thanksgiving weekend. I had two other 4-day weekends in there also. I kept going over it thinking that I missed something. I bought more tubes thinking that I damaged them. I attempted to buy an amplifier off of E-bay. He refused my offer.

I made a leap of faith and captured the bottom pictures off of E-bay and Dudah also gave me his picture. I was able to decipher some of the wiring. I guessed for the other wire. The schematic is wrong, and it kicked my ass. I hope this helps others so that they do not have to go through this.

For whatever reason

I made some assumptions about my amplifier. I do not have access to an unmolested one. The 923 photocell uses pin 2/4. The schematic is unclear. I assume something was done in the mess of wires that I can't see in pictures, or a different tube was used.

I had my amplifier working with my modifications on the bench. After installing it into my chassis, it did not work. My plug from the chassis to the figure is using 2/3. Those connections appear to be original. This will be modified to fit my needs.

My other modifications were made to suit my needs and assumptions. Your mileage may vary.

I made more progress with my amplifier today. I had been heavily modified in the past. I had to have been working in that situation. Trying to recap it and struggling with a defective coil, I decided to re-wire it. The schematic is wrong in some places and right in others.

R13 going to the shot counter is called for a 390ohm 1/4W resistor. The modified amplifier had a 390Kohm resistor. I put it back to the 390ohm and it is working much better. It is very fickle to the surrounding light. It works the best in a dim room with the 3 accent lights on. I could not get it to register without those on. If I get too much external light, it will give false shots. This is listed as an issue in the documentation.

I appear to have my amplifier working. My cable from the chassis to the amplifier was picking up noise. I am now using a shielded cable. Chicken Sam uses pin 2 as ground for the photocell. My Bear uses pin 4 of the photocell for ground. I have had best luck with pin 4.

I am now going back to interior work and finishing up some touch-ups that I damaged during my amplifier excursion.
