Chicagoland Antique Advertising, Slot Machine & Jukebox Show

Hi all...This is my first post but have been coming to the forums for a few months. I just wanted to thank you all for this great source. Anyways I was just wondering if any of you have ever gone to one of these before and if it is worth it to go.

I've been, the thing to remember is the real dealing takes place in the parking lot beginning at 3 am (no kidding). By the time the main show opens inside, the best deals are gone.

Main show admission is pretty steep- I think $40 bucks or so, maybe a little less.

You'll see some amazing stuff, things you've only seen in books maybe, and everything is dealt in cash. There is also a huge contigent of foreign buyers from Europe and Japan, if you can strike up a conversation with one of them, you'll get a different perspective on collecting, and maybe make an overseas contact.

I go at least once a year. Never bought anything except for a slot machine. Not much arcade stuff there, but cool as hell to see the old restored jukes going for $10,000+.

I'll be there. I'll also be in the Pheasant Run bar hanging out with other collectors Thur night.

Yes, the best auction is often in the parking lot. I think getting out there at 5:30 or 6:30 should do it. 3 am isn't necessary. Why be the first one out? You might be beat the other buyers out, but you would also beat nearly all the sellers out there to.

Friday costs $50 to get into (which gives you access all weekend). Sat/Sun are $10 individually.

Typically in the parking lot you have a ton of people hunting for early gems and maybe 3% of them get lucky...

Ive never done the parking lot thing or Friday. I usually go either Saturday or Sunday when they open. I have only bought a slot machine the 10+ time I have gone.

Its open Friday too, but you need to buy the $50 pass. You can hunt in the parking lot at 5am for free though. You only need to pay to go inside which people start moving their stuff in about 9am-ish
