Chicago/NWI PacMan and Galaxian $250

This just broke my heart.

I gave him a call knowing it must be way too late. It was, he said someone had already called and arranged paypal / pickup.

I (like a desperate suitor) said "If it doesn't work out, give me a call."

Yeah I figured they wouldn't last long. It's times like these that I really wish I had a truck, time to trade the ol' car in... I'm sure my buddies would of loaned me a few bucks and some spare space in their garage. I just hate asking them to drive around to pick up arcades for me.

Well hopefully the one guy doesn't pan out and you get your shot at em.

So as I'm getting ready to call him I asked my wife "where would we put them?"...

She goes "how about you bookend the tv with them here in the living room?"

I love my wife.

Wow in Griffith, not far from here actually.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll just have to tag it and wait to see how high the prices get. Maybe i'll get lucky and snag one if they go cheap enough.

I was a little confused. When I called him he indicated that someone was going to paypal him the money so I let him know that I was interested if that fell through. I figure I'm probably the 11th person to do that so I wonder why he didn't go to some of his backup callers.

I wonder if he got so much response that he decided to sell it at auction instead. As long as he get more than the 10% extra ebay / paypal is going to charge him I guess that works out.

It's a 320 mile round trip for me, but I probably would've done it on saturday if I had gotten both machines. I wouldn't be able to next weekend even if I got them. Oh well, someone else gets those project machines :) As my wife would say, there's always the next one.

These must really not be desired...

It's weird, only two days left and no one has really bid on them in the last couple of days.

Are they that bad (I know the sideart is rough on the galaxian)?

I don't know, I am about 10 minutes from Griffith, but with zero feedback, a misspelled word in the username, and an auction description in all caps, I hope whoever bids keeps their expectations in check.

I asked the seller for side art pics of the Pac Man, dunno if they got around to adding that or not. I hope they do go cheap, teach the person a lesson on doing a CL add then pulling it to try to get more money. As long as I can remember about the auction, I'll try to "snipe" one at the last minute if they don't get many more bids. I don't mind a project and that will keep me busy for quite some time.

Well I got a response from the seller after asking why they were pulled from CL and then put on Epay...

"i did not know my boyfriend had them on craigslist. i thought he told me to put them on ebay."

I can't seem to get a straight answer on what I've asked them and still no pictures of the pac man side art. So I may not bid to avoid dealing with the couple.

Ja, I think at this point I'm once again going to pass on them. If the Pac looks anything like the Galaxian on the side (shame on Cheryl for carving her name in) I think you're looking at a total makeover.

Well the pacman is now sold for more then I would of wanted to pay for it. Especially if it needs a total make over. Last few seconds went from 175.00 to 266.88. I hate those sniper deals.. Best of luck to whoever got that!

Well checking on the galaxian its also over my range. 5 min left and 227.50 already. No snipers at the last second on that. Sold for 227.50.

Both of them for more then I would of paid in those conditions.. shame. Still a shame, they should of honored those who called at least on the CL ad, instead of changing their mind's and throwing it on ebay.

I can see how it might happen though. They get a ton of responses on the phone because they might have priced them a little low. But it's all good, in the meantime I picked up two cabs this week, so I got stuff to do and didn't have to drive 300 miles to get them. I'll get my pacman cab one day.

The guy listed them on eBay while sniffing CraigsList for interest levels. He never intended to sell them to anybody from CL, he just wanted to know what kind of response he'd get. Or something like that. The start price in the bid history and the CL post coincide almost exactly.

Haha, "my girlfriend did it." Yeah, and my dog ate it.

I love the contrast in this game. All of the swindlers trying to sell their crap for too much and getting nary a whiff of interest after months and months (and refusing to get the message); meanwhile the actual good deals - like this guy's - get dogpiled instantly by everybody and their brother.

Are there really any suckers out there in buyer-land nowadays?
