I am getting signs of life on my totally unnecessary new purchase. It is going to need a general cleaning and a new gun stock.

It has been said before that these old gun games use an actual gunstock and barrel. This one uses a Remington 514. This will make it easier to get the gunstock replaced.

Nice. Yes, you can use standard gunstocks. You'll need to remove the barrel and clean it, then re-blue it.

That's in better shape than the Sharpshooter I restored at Hollywood Candy. The backglass on that one was really bad. Still played fine once I got everything cleaned and un-jammed.

Thanks for bringing this one back.

Before I cut up my new gun stock.

I modified my gun stock to accept a leaf switch. The trigger from the barrel actuates the leaf switch. I also had to cut off the end of my gun stock to properly fit my game.

I have nearly completed my gun. My glass hinges down towards the gun. So, I want to complete work on that area before I install it.

My amateur artistry skills are enough to be less of a distraction. The main graphics were passable. There was paint loss at the top. And the match feature was missing. Having only one number light up at a time helps out my alignment issues.

Assembly is near complete. I have to work on aiming. For that, I need the reflective mirror. This mirror also has targets that are stationary and also move. The mirroring is flaking off. I have to figure out a way to get my selective mirror finish.

I thought that I could save some of the artwork for my mirror/target combo. There was too much artwork loss, and I could not find a small applicator mirror paint. Hobby Lobby has a mirror spray paint that is semi-translucent with a back light. I will try that and add some artwork on the back.

I have worked long and hard to get something acceptable. The mirror paint from Hobby Lobby did not apply well. Home Depot had Rust-oleum mirror effect. That applied really well without dripping. I must have scraped the paint off 4-5 times before I found something that worked. I went with two small coats. I needed the mirror effect but still have light shine through the back.

For the art, Office Depot had some sticker labels that I ran through my printer. I am not able to get a really great image to shine through the mirror paint, so I only kept the minimal art available for necessary gameplay.

This was finished last fall. The cold weather was causing re-set issues. I had to adjust a leaf switch for a score reel re-set. The sights had to be adjusted to the score template underneath.

My experiment with mirror paint worked well enough to complete a game. They are faint compared to the original. I was not able to duplicate that.
