I cant find any you tube vids. of this that I can hear any sound etc.? I cant see any wiring how many tracks etc. or just background circus music, also in game can find where it was cut out etc. no cut off wires ? I don't have a sch. to check either etc.

Yup, you might be in a little unfortunate situation with that.. What was most likely used in CC Super Circus rifle game was the model PlayTape 1604.. This had a different tape format that preceded 8 track tape.. It is simply obsolete and i know of no one that has any ability to reproduce them today. As far as i know there is virtually no recording of what is actually playing on the tape since no effort has been made known to save the recording.

PS.. From the flyer it says the tape played "Trapeze artists actually talks".. "Taunting and teasing players" "Full circus band offers authentic background music".

Wow have been looking all night for anything on sound for this game!!!! cant find any info or sound bite on this, I did find the playtape 1604 machine but no tape of course and no way to copy etc. sound to what is on the tape with it.....but I will keep looking and hopefully someone on here may have a actual working tape deck and correct sounds!!!! to start process of reproducing?

So looks like it's a 2 track?

Yes but apparently in this 1604 model it has one head and you have to "manually" select which track you want to play. Which to me is doesnt make sence for Super Circus if you have both backgound music playing and then have some talking or dialog going on at the same time. I dont understand how that can happen without 2 heads & 2 tracks.

But this from arcadearchive.com

" In some cases (particularly with Chicago Coin gun games), 8-track sound was a factory option. So if you have one of those games and there is no sign of an original tape player, it may be able to accept almost any standard 8-track player. Also, some Chicago Coin gun games offered an optional 8-track player but did not include a tape. They expected the operator to supply a pre-recorded 8-track with whatever music they wished"

So if your Super Circus has a tape player in it now we know that it was at least factory installed. It is also possible that your super circus never even had a "tape" in it from the begining. But the flier seems to indicate there was a tape available for Super Circus which is probably going to be next to impossible to find. But you may have an option of changing it out with an 8 track format player instead of using the 1604 PlayTape format. You'll need a schematic for that im sure if you even attempt to go there.

And then even if your able to get that far with upconverting it to the 8 track then you have to decide what tape would be appropriate to play in it. You may only get away with playing some sort of background music. I can provide you with some MP3's that would be approriate for Super Circus if you want just let me know. But with Super Circus i dont believe its manditory to have any sound especially when it was optional.

Hey Whip, You may be in some luck today. In my detective work with the EM game price guide i found a seller that is selling a restored Super Circus rifle game that has a "working" original factory 8 track with the background music and dialog as outlined in the flier.

Now maybe you can contact this eBay seller and see if you can work with him on getting him to record the tape or perhaps renting it from him for a fee ?

His game has been up for 2 months now and its still not sold and i dont know why i didnt think about this game earlier (old age i guess) but this is what you have been looking for and it may be your only chance to get a recording. So here is the link to that auction. The sellers name is "nastyboyxxx"..good luck !

I have a working tape & tape player, have the music recorded on my iPhone if that helps...

@TommyGee any chance you still have the sound file? I have a Super Circus that my son and I are going to restore this summer. It does not have the tape or player in it.

TommyGee was last on in August of 2023. You may not see a response for a while. You might try a DM and that may ping his email.

This is a 2015 thread, so it's a necrobump.

Maybe try the email address.
