Hello - new to the forum and its been great gathering tons of information.
My question is where is the best place to get guidance (pics a plus) on cleaning/repairing a score reel on a chicago coin machine? The problem with my machine is the player 3 reel wont reset to zero (stuck on 60 points) and therefore the game wont start. It just keeps trying to reset the reels. I have read a lot about cleaning it but am just unsure where and what to use.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

if I recall correctly, Chicago Coin's score reels are a bit different and have blades that slide on a stepper assembly to let the game know which position the score reel is in. If that's correct, you need to make sure the stepper assembly face is clean, and the blades have clean and solid contacts. Sometimes they'll lift a little, or get a little dirty, and no longer make contact, so the reset relay can't continue turning it back to zero....

Yeah, here it is (from that link I posted above):

You can see the dirty circles around the bakelite board from the rings moving around. I used #0000 steel wool to clean (with the power off), then wipe it clean to get any residue off....

Do you put anything on the contacts/board to lube and protect it? Something such as silicone grease like you would pack switches or use on spark plug boots?

Thanks! I will give that a try.
They look pretty clean but I will clean them. Are there any other areas you can think of?

I tried cleaning but that did not work. I used a 400 grit sand paper.
Any other thoughts? This is a 4 player game and the 3 player is the one that is always stuck at 60 points (last wheel is at 6). Whats interesting is that the relay for the 1 and 3 player does not appear to spark. The switches move but there is no green spark. Is this a solenoid issue?

Cab you advance it manually? When I last did one of these, I pulled it out and left it hang while I went through the reset process, and manually pushed each blade down to make contact to see if it would move on it's own....
