Chicago Coin "motorcycle" at antiques store

My wife and I were at an antiques dealer yesterday and I found this:

No, I did not buy it, but I thought it was pretty cool. Was not in bad shape actually. I don't think it's antique either, LOL. They made these in 1970 and 1974. This one is from 1974. The earlier ones had different color cabinets and a different marquee.

Unfortunately, the marquee was broken. It was a cool marquee that moved as you walked passed it (like those old "3-D" type cards, if that makes sense).

Anyway, I know some people are interested in the older EM stuff. This is at Mad Hatter Antiques mall in Adamstown, PA. THe tag said it worked, and the asking price was $425. I have no idea if that is good or not.

Just thought I would share if there were anyone interested.

I own 2 of these, one is a parts machine with major water damage, the other is in decent shape. $425 is a little high for the game. I guess broken marquees were common because of the 2 that I own (both 1974 editions) the best thing I have is broken up marquee pieces. Cool to find one either way.

Some of the old plastics just can't deal with light being shine through it. They turn brittle and crack easily age over time. My experience with old radios taught me to be very careful in dealing with any old plastic part. Some plastic parts should just be left alone. While some plastic parts were design to snap into place, The same mechanical flexing and snapping into place works with new plastics, When the same forces are applied to old plastic will just cause your pieces to shatter. The Old saying well it was assembled, It should be easy to take it part doesn't apply to old brittle parts.
