I went to Columbus to pick up my dad's Chicago Coin Cinema that he purchased off ebay. They said it was working I get it home it won't engage a game at all. Most the things on the playfield seem to work good but can't get the machine to start a game. Anybody have any luck fixing a Chicago Coin machine? Or should I push it into the Ohio River?

er.. uh.. you played it? right?

If it worked there but not at home, then I would suspect a wiring connector between the backbox and cabinet.

If he had it in the garage apart and ready to load right up then you might exercise the river option. j/k it's probably nothing serious. finding the exact issue can be a PITA, however.

Read this here page: http://www.pinrepair.com/em/index.htm Read part one. Read part two. Print a hard copy and read it in the bathroom. Study it all carefully. There will be a test.

I fixed my Chicago Coin...

Start with the basics.

My CC has a switch under the machine and then the left flipper button needs to be pushed to get it to power up. Does yours?

EM's like to be played, that said, you should clean with a rag, all the game boards. All the places the contacts touch on the boards.

Check all your fuses.

First time we plugged it in I needed to hit the Left flipper to get the lights on. Game still wouldn't engage. I just flipped the switch on again and the lights came right on. Beats me.

Before going to pick it up they did offer over the phone to let me see it working but they stressed to me they had to go to work at 2pm and to make it quick. So I just told em to go ahead and take it apart and we'll make it a quick pick up. On the auction it said flippers needed oiled then when I got there the guy said it ran sluggish and contact's needed cleaned.

I'll read the document and hopefully I won't have to see if the pinball can swim or not.

I put the stepper (I think it is) into test mode by moving the pin and everything funtion pretty well cept for the reels seem like they get stuck or something. It happens at the end of a ball when it adds up all the points.
