Unfortunately I don't have the leads that a lot of people do on here to buy games at reasonable prices, so I rely on the local craigs to search. On any given day games are listed for over a thousand bucks that aren't even close to worth it.

I mean they are their games and they can ask what ever they want for them, but common sense would dictate after listing the same beat up game for $1100 for 4 months you would get the picture that no one wants to buy at that price. Sorry for the rant guys. I just hear on here some of the deals that people get off CL in other parts of the country and get kind of bummed.

The craigslist in Chicago is a freaking shark tank and games are like fresh, raw meat. I like to stay out of the frenzy whenever possible.

I've picked up a Jambo Safari sitdown off of Chicago Craigslist for $250 (had a 32inch LCD instead of the 50inch rear proj)
The boards here are usually better, just have to wait patiently with cash in hand......that and lowball the hell out of CLers.
If you see posts with the location Niles, with a ton of overpriced items its usually the arcade at the local mall.

Yea, the Chicago CL is pretty much a joke. There is a Space Invaders with a nice looking cab that just popped up a few hours ago though nice cab, monitor not working for 250 (not mine) if there is any interest though.

The Niles posts are a complete joke...I agree

dude, you stole that thing!!

I kind of miss the chicago fellas though. THeres not alot of klovers around where i live now, and even less games. Its a rare occasion for me to go on a game run anymore partly due to lack of leads/games and lack of money lol..

I hunt the Chicago list also. Mostly trying to stay in my region (NWI), but 98% of my area is the dealer listings. They are nice guys, but the prices are more then I want to spend.

Like others, I have started to branch my search out. South Bend, Fort Wayne, lafayette / west lafayette, and Indy. Also West Chicagoland - Basically Aurora area for one to have at my sisters home.

I found a Capcom Merc's cabinet with 25'' monitor and a single slot Neo Geo (Bubble Bobble cart) in it last week. Picked it up today for $50. "Was working when I bought it, got it home and it wouldn't turn on."

Checked it out with the Multimeter, no power past the power line filter. Swapped that out with a spare I had. Powered right up. Screen has some minor burn, not seen during any gameplay. Does need a cap kit done.

Keep on looking with CL and fire on anything you want as soon as you see it. Those "cheap" games your looking for go very fast. I've bought all 4 of my arcades for under $300 a game.

Just noticed this a fellow KLOV'r selling his Assault (Tank) Arcade Game - $650 OBO

Looking again and seen 2 games for under 300.

Space Invaders (Villa Park) http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/vgm/2907566282.html
Picture looks like a very nice cab - apparently plays blind. Would be a nice one to have if I had the space and money.

Another one is in Aurora - Taito Speedrace stand up unit - http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/atq/2889744416.html
I know this has been up for a few weeks so i'm sure you could talk the seller down if you wanted the game.

Yea, I know.
I've had much better luck with people on the boards though (especially larger items) Cyber Sled for $100, although that one was posted 3 times before I saw it.
Usually things go much quicker, I was second in line for a sub $300 sit down Crazy Taxi. I had my fingers crossed that the first person would fall thru but sadly it didn't happen.

Trust me it's the WILD WEST out here... If your not the first to respond on a good deal, forrrrrr gitttttttttt it.

It goes in strides for me... You absolutely have to be quick to the draw once the ad shows up.

I definitely had my share of misses: Front Line, Crazy Climber (Rockford C.L.), Armor Attack, Rotj (recently). At the same time I had my share grabs: Super Punch Out for 3 bills and a Gottlieb Buck Rogers for $250...

When and where did you get the Buck Rogers? Is it working? Was it from a guy in Logan Square? Can I test a couple of my boardsets in yours?

Absolutely! Right now it's in storage due to limited space. I'm thinking around the summer I'll dig her out...

How the hell did i miss the crazy climber? booo..

This was 2 years ago'ish.... It was the "Taito" version too!:( I think someone from Iowa snagged it - damn Iowians!;)
