Cheyenne with multi-exidy blank screen bars.

How about a survey??

Does anyone think that by replacing my ROMs with the Exidy kit, it would take care of my ROM issue or am I just wasting my time by taking this route and should consider having the board professionally repaired before I proceed....

Thanks
Jeff

Finally a day of triumph. After over two months I got a phone call last week saying my board was repaired. Also got this in today:

Unpacked everything and I put the boards in and no dice.. I then tore all the wiring out and noticed that some of the wiring on the power line was chewed up by mice and there still was some mice crap behind the pcb cage. So I cleaned the cab up more, rebuilt the main power harness pulled and checked over every connection, reflowed all the solder points on the linear cap board and replaced some of the connectors that looked a little dirty and or burnt also replaced the switcher that was in there and...

Success!!! I was a little confused though as I didn't realize some of the games in the menu weren't playable. Now I need to finish restoring the cab and replace the speakers as they sound blown.

Finally played chiller again for the first time in 18 years. I love that game. Now to get my warlords up. Trying to have a productive week in the room.

That's awesome Mike. Glad you persisted with it and got it going. I am so glad the great state of Wisconsin sits between us, otherwise I would try and move in with you!

Thanks. You can move into the guest bedroom next week, as long as you don't mind the dogs sleeping with you.

So what did the repair end up costing?

Any idea from surveying the board what type of repair was done?

Cost me $180 for the repair plus shipping back.

I asked when they called but the girl didn't know. I think some of the memory burnt from what she explained and I noticed they had replaced the power connector on the board. See the thing is, the machine was doing the same thing (blue screen) when I put it back in the cab and only after I redid the wiring/connectors on the main power line did she boot up. So I think a voltage snafu on my wiring caused some of the board to fry. Like I noticed some of the sounds in Chiller including the scream for the menu don't work but everything else works.

Also to note, the 5v line on my game was replaced with a switcher and not the internal linear 5v wiring. The other two voltages +/- 18 or 22 or whatever were still there. So my wiring was modified a bit. Hope this helps.

Congradulations on getting your Multi going, sorry to hear about the sound issue, so close.....
I wish I could help but I am still contemplating my course of action.

Now i know that if you use a combat board you will be missing sounds cause the combat isnt stereo. all cimbat cabs have 1 speaker.. to make it stereo you nred to add another speaker and run the wires to the pinout lwith the crossbow pinout... As for cheyenne make sure you jave another speaker in that cab... cheyenne cabs are the same as combat.. dont let the screws on the speaker grill fool you in thinking there is a speaker.. open it up and phyiscialy look to see if there is 2 there...

Checked and there are two. I still think its something else as I get rom errors and some sounds are replaced with chirps. Mind you I replaced all the roms on the multi so it has to be something else on the board.
