A friend recently picked one of these bad boys up for a decent price. It is the blue model made in '83. The kind that has team Russia vs the United States and Moog sound chips. Anyway, does anyone have/know where I can find a schematic for this? The scoreboard does not work, it just puts random numbers up and the lights to designate what period it is light in random order and never change. The cooling fan does run, though. All the game sounds work correctly and it coins up fine. (Aside from the national anthem and crowd cheers/boos, but I'm not sure if this model even has that - can anyone verify if the early models do this as well?)
I am thinking the problem is the ribbon cable, because the connection isn't as good as it should be and if you slightly move the side plugged into the main board, the scoreboard numbers change - but they do not change when a goal is scored. Also, there is a male 2 pin connector on the board that has no wires connected to it, so I'm not sure if this missing cable is even needed. I will start with the ribbon cable, but I want to verify it is all connected right before I take anything apart and start soldering and replacing things. Having never worked on this particular unit, it would save a lot of trial and error!
If anyone has a fully working model, do you have pictures of the main board so I can verify all cables are present? I will try to get pictures of this model tomorrow or Sunday. Note this is not a super chexx, it's the older blue model made in Upstate New York (sticker says Buffalo).
