I am not sure if I am in the right forum area, but I am interested at a curosity level for entertainment use, cherry master machines. Mainly the pc boards, Anyone have any links or documentation on these, connector types and all?. I have seen these in a variety of places. and some im sure are not supposed to be there, and read about them online. I think they are one of those things that would be fun and interesting to have at the house to goof around with.

Documenation would be good. Im a hands on type of guy and hands on and manuals etc,
a great way for me to learn about em, Its more of a interest and just learning more about other games, and interfaces.

video output etc?.. I see from the pic, it almost looks like a jamma connection, but then I look and see another connection, which I assume this is the buttons connections smaller of the two.

I have 2 of them and as I remember the larger connector is for input/outputs(buttons,coin up,security, and video/sound out) while the smaller is for voltage supply. Sorry I don't think I have any paper work to help with your info. quest.

Monkeyland on eBay sells anywhere between $100 to $ 175, but that's the pcb only without shipping.

I have seen a few go in the $30 range but most of the newer ones go pretty high ($100+) on eBay.

I have four PCBs but only one fully works. Unfortunately, there is very little information or support on these. The second site that modessitt posted has the largest collection of information I know of.

Cherry Masters typically use standard resolution monitors and run on the standard arcade voltages +5V, -5V, and +12V. They are designed sort of like JAMMA games in the fact that most all use an standard pinout to make upgrading easy.

As far as the game goes, the it's an 8 line slot machine using a 3 by 3 grid. The different versions have different bonuses and bonus games but high/low poker is pretty common. If you like playing slots, it might be worth getting but there will be no one to pay out your jackpots.

They can easily be used for illegal gambling. Most games support a ticket dispenser, ticket printer, and even a hopper. When I bought my cabinet, it had a hidden clear credit button – the idea being you could get an attendant who would cash you out and clear the credits left on the machine. I rewired it as a credit button for free play to make it legal.

nice...

nice. yea. I have seen a couple set ip like that. usualy switched between some old arcade game and all. pretty obivous.. lol.

yea. a credit in button awesome idea. and yea. slots are a fun one to play something I also did as a biz for a couple of years. even registered with doj to do it. I closed up shop ended up scrapping the inventory. was trying to deal in old machines. but parts were harder to find. so I quit that biz.

I wanna set up a cherry master rig here at my house. thinking I could build one into a mini box. and I wonder if there would be a way to rig it to a computer lcd??

I try to do fun lil projects and it sounds like one I wanna try for the hell of it.
I do everything on a shoestring budget though. so who knowd mabey this idea will sit on the back burner for now lol

These boards do not use jamma. Jamma uses a 56 pin connector and 8 liner boards use a 72 pin edge connector and a 20 pin power connector. The pinouts are generally very close to being the same between games but it be necessary to move wires from time to time. The website Mod listes has several different manuals for these style games. The pinouts are usually listed in the manual.

Here is an example of the type of harness that is used:

I have seen 8 liner to jamma harness. Here is a link where I seen one at:
http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/cherry-master-8liner-to-jamma-adapter-board
I want the wiring diagram for a 8 liner to jamma harness. Does anybody know where one is at...
thanks

as of now that link says it points to this site which talks about a ebay listing.. and some sort of sign up to see??.. try pasting some other one I you can find it.

I will take a picture of the one I got when I get home tonight..but it is not fully functional...I bought a 8 liner 3 day ago and tested it on my jamma cab..it works except for I did not have buttons hooked up..but it comes on, but wont play, because the buttons are not wired...

thanks...

I wanted the wiring diagram to see if they wired the harness right..I was going to try add the buttones to see if it worked..

thanks,

here is the pic I would post....

As far as I know there is not a wiring diagram, but you should be able to work out the wiring with the pin outs. (from Sarge77's Link)

The things highlighted above in RED are connections you will probably not need to make. The Books, Test, and Payout Sw (gold) might be worth finding a space for if you have spare switches inside your game - its up to you.

From there, its finding a spot for the buttons (blue) on your JAMMA harness. The JAMMA standard gives you eight buttons - one start and three action (A/B/C) for each player. You could easily use the following:

Player 1 "A" = Start
Player 1 "B" = Bet
Player 1 "C" = Take Score
Player 2 "A" = Double Up
Player 2 "B" = Big
Player 2 "C" = Small

You could also use the Player 1 "Start" button and the Player 2 "Start" button for something like this:

Player 1 "START" = Start
Player 2 "START" = Bet
Player 1 "A" = Take Score
Player 1 "B" = Double Up
Player 2 "A" = Big
Player 2 "B" = Small

Those are just 2 options - you could come up with several more on your own.

It really comes down to are you wanting to use your JAMMA game to test you PCB or make a fully functioning Cherry Master. The problem is that JAMMA does not support lighted buttons (purple). If you are going to use lighted buttons, it would be safest to avoid placing those on the JAMMA adaptor - especially if you want to keep the joysticks for other games. You do not want to accidently put a steady 5V into one of your JAMMA games if you wire the lighted buttons to say where the joysticks are on a JAMMA harness - you could fry something. EDIT - just looked at your adaptor pic and it does not even have the wires for the lighted buttons so nevermind.

If you need the JAMMA pinout:
http://www.jammaboards.com/jcenter_jamma_pinout.html

(except he calls the Player 1/2 Action Buttons "Button 1" "Button 2" and "Button 3" whereas I said "A" "B" and "C")

I have the kit up on my site if you'd like to see what is all involved.

It's true, you can find a what I like to call "Standard" Cherry Master board ( just a 9 block grid with no bonuses and such ) working for around $30 to $50 bucks.

The wiring is simple. Nothing to it. All manuals have the pinouts in the manual. I've put together Cherry Master machines in under 2 hours. Although the newer ones are a little easier to do. Some of the older boards ( as we are talking about here ) have issues when swapping them with newer boards such as the lights for the DOUBLE and TAKE buttons being reversed, etc.

I'll also have an empty "table-top" cabinet up on my site soon which could be used for one of these type machines ( less a bill unit, no where to mount one ) . Looking to get $20.00 for it.
