checking interest in silk screened Bally Budweiser tapper cpo's ?

Hello, I am checking interest in doing a run of silk screened Bally Budweiser Tapper control panel overlays. These would be done by Rich @ thisoldgame for me. I have a perfect NOS tapper overlay to use for matching color, texture, and thickness. The current repro tapper overlay that is out there is not close in color , thickness and texture of the original and could use better adhesive for installation. This will be a much better match to the original screened overlay that came on the game. Let me know your thaughts on this.

Thanks. Rich

Is the available one that far off? I'm all for originality, but many of the 'not perfect' repros are that way because there were multiple versions of the original. I'll admit, I just bought one of the CPOs recently, and I plan to do a full restore of my project Tapper. If it's way off, I could see re-buying, but if not, it would be nice to see other things repro'd than something already out there.

The Arcade Shop Tapper CPO is a piece of shit. It is a digital print on a thick material with very poor adhesive. I have one and hate it, but with the options at that time..thats what ya got. The colors are off, no die cut holes (very hard to line up) and it has hottible adhesion. Maybe Rich can post pics of the NOS cpo and a repro side by side.

If the price was $45-$50, I'd buy one.

I may be incorrect on this but I've heard repeatedly that due to the detail of the wood grain it's extremely unlikely the art could/would be vectorized and screen printed. Sure a better color match might be able to be made and the adhesive issue could be fixed but I'm not sure that the detail would actually improve much. At least this is what I've heard over the years when the topic has come up before.

Darin did the Timber overlay and that has a simialr wood grain pattern to it....so it can be done. The original was silk screened. I guess it depends on the guy doing the graphic work.

I have an arcadeshop cpo that I was going to use for my Tapper restore as well, but would buy one of these instead if around $50.

Would this be a "fast track" project, or something that would require some serious patience?

Here is a pic of both overlays side by side.

Tapper Cpo

As for timeframe it would basically be 6 weeks to completion after the vectoring and screens are completed which Rich said he could start at the end of the month with prepayment of the project. I need to kind of know the interest on this to know how many to order when I do go ahead with the project.

Side note: I was kind of thinking most people would want a better silk screened repro for tapper as it is not a cheap game and I would think that it could be justified to spend the money on regardless if you have the AS overlay or not.

The price will definitely be between $45-$50 + shipping

Who's going to do the vectorization? Whoever it is, I don't envy them. That woodgrain pattern would be a nightmare to trace.

Terrific. I'm in for one.

I'm definitely in for one. This is perfect timing because I was looking for a replacement for mine but wasn't pleased with what is currently available.

How about RB Tapper?

I know the RB Tapper CP is a different size but does the CP overlays look the same?

Tapper CPO

I messaged Rich to post on this thread to give a little info. on the project.

Also I am going to be posting a pre-order for the Tapper Cpo's after Rich chimes in. I will post info. here and in the for sale section so nobody misses it.
