http://corvallis.craigslist.org/sys/1244655915.html

Hand made, very cool video arcade "theater". Modified Xbox system pre-loaded with lots of driving, flying, shooting, and arcade games. Custom user interface – sit down, turn on, and play. Ignition switch on/off. 21" TV. 200 Watt Pioneer stereo with 12" woofers just inches behind the high grade seat. Mid range and tweeter speakers are in dash and headboard. Large smoked Plexiglas roof for others to watch. Base shaker and hacked rumblers rock the seat from sound and game inputs. Exotic wood dashboard. Plays movies and MP3 music. Great as a self contained gaming/movie/sound theater. The steering wheel broke a few years ago and I haven't got around to fixing it. Currently wired to use hand controller (wires concealed underneath.) For more info, check out the construction blog of the step-by-step details and decisions of its construction at: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=57479.0
More than $1,200 invested plus a few hundred labor hours.
Asking $750 OBO

That would be a cool MAME driver...but why green and why lie about how much it cost to build?

He should of bought a Daytona and restored it if he wanted people watching the driver at a party. :)

for xbox he coulda at least put in an hd tv. what a load of crap.

"A" for effort...not sure how to grade the execution.

I like this...

With the power on, I tried shorting out combinations of the leads. With one combination, the machine shut down. I either just fried my machine or found the magic combination. The moment of truth came when I shorted them together again (drum roll please...) the machine started up.

Or....unplug it, put a meter on it and find out which points are shorted when you depress the switch. Then again, if I don't know I often touch wires together till I get something. :)

I really like this. Not so much the color, but cool none the less. I've read up on this project a while back, and wanted to make my own ever since. I would but i have very limited space. I'll be sure to let you guys know about so you can hate on me too! :p

I have one every year since!

That's what happens when a software developer messes with hardware...

It's not that the idea is so bad...it's just that it looks like absolute crap. Wood grain? green? Broken wheel? HUNDREDS of hours into it? I can think of a million other things I would rather do if I had hundreds of hours and $1200 hahaha. Hmm maybe if I was desperate to play racing games I could go to a real arcade and play Hydro Thunder or Rush 1200 times for my $1200. At Chuck E Cheese I could play 4800 times for $1200! And get loads of pizza!

This is an awesome idea though...and it has been done well by someone here I believe.

I also like how it has the plexiglass roof so others can be amazed by the action on the 21" screen!

Have you guys ever built a cabinet from scratch? It takes a lot of work. I can definitely see that kind of time being put into it. Would I do it? No. But he did put some effort into builiding it. However when you go into a project like that, you should know that you are going to lose 75% of your investment if you ever sell it, and he has the other strike of it being a large cabinet which makes it more difficult to unload. If it was an upright, he probably would already have sold it be now...

I agree with you havok. I really hope for this dude's sake he gets something back for all his time and money spent on the machine. I HAVE to hope for that, becuase it may happen to me one day with my custom.

That being said...... what kind of fool doesn't replace or fix the steering wheel on a DRIVING cabinet before he tries to sell it? Isn't that the main purpose of this monster? Its not like it would be too hard. It's just a little lazy in my opinion. No different than a person trying to list a vintage arcade game for a good chunk of change, but they don't take the time to wipe it down before the take pics of it.
