Check out this BattleZone side Art!!!

lordy, and archer only asked i think 300 for his red baron sideart back in the day

tough to install 400 worth of side art on a 350 machine

Klovpp!

Scram it's the KLOV Price Police! :secruity: :D

You could buy a Battlezone machine for that price. What are these people thinking?

One would think if you were paying $400 for side art, at least the shipping would be FREE! Na, that'll cost you another $4!!!

Anybody try to make an offer? I've offered less than 50% on items and got them. He may be just seeing if there are any loons out there. :)

If this is original Archer McClean BZ side art, then it might be worth that price. The last time I talked to Archer about this, he told me it would probably cost about $400/set for BZ side art to be run. And that is on good thick stuff, too.

The only concern I would have is that the ad says "Items in picture are for photograph purpose only." That seems to infer that it's not an actual picture, so it might not be in that good of shape.

As for your comments about "$400 art on a $350 machine" - if the machine had absolutely perfect cosmetics, it would sell for a lot more than $350. The $350 machines are the ones that work but have scratches, scrapes, dings, etc. If someone loved BZ enough to want a perfect example in their house, $750 isn't an outrageous price for a minty BZ....

If Rich can print Discs of Tron, Spy Hunter, and Pole Position sideart for $150.00, Battlezone sideart, that isn't even a full side piece (meant to cut down to just the artwork), should be no more then $100 and probably closer to about $85.......

But that is just my opinion.

You're also talking about difference between inkjet and silkscreening. Silkscreening costs more. Not sure which this is.

And Battlezone is NOT supposed to be cut down. It's full side art with white vinyl around the "regular" art. The seller mentioned that they bought it for the purpose of cutting it out, and didn't for some reason.

Also, BZ is 6'6" of art.

Still, if you can find a good image, I'm sure you can get someone to print you a set for about $200-250....

I highly doubt that he went to the time and expense to vectorize and screen print the artwork. If he did, then I could possibly see a $200+ pricetag.

And I know it isn't supposed to be cut down, but that is what he is selling.

Regardless, back to my original point, if Rich (thisoldgame.com) can print full sideart (yes, it is inkjet but looks damn nice) for around $150, then he is way off on his price for artwork that doesn't not include enough material to cover the entire side.

I don't disagree. But until they DO print this art (and you better give them a file to print from), your options are limited. When you have little options, the price goes up. When you have lots of options, the price goes down.

And from his explanation, the side art is long enough to cover the cab from top to bottom, so the art he's selling is not cut out. Granted he's a little unclear in his descriptive phrases - saying in one sentence that it was bought to be cut out, then later saying it would cover from top to bottom...

BTW - this is part of a response I got from Archer back in 2007 when I inquired about his BZ side art:

I assume you have seen the pics of the BZ (and other) art on www.ionpool.net

Anyway, I can assure you that my side art prints are immeasurably better than anything you could possibly get whacked out on any old commercial printer ! My prints are quite thick and will cover up cabinet imperfections that would otherwise shown up really badly if super thin silk screen art is used. Also, its coated on the top surface with a scuff proof polymer that can either be glossy, or satin/matt. Its much easier to apply than any silked stuff. And finally its colour matched to perfection. You have to see it to believe it.

One problem I have is the extremely high dollar / pound exchange rate that's making it impossible to sell. Producing this art in batches of 10 is completely unprofitable even at $300 a set, and I only set out to do this particular project because *I* needed it for my own efforts. But I am out of stock of both variety's at the moment, but will add you to the list.

I have a great idea. How about if one of the people in this thread complaining about the price actually makes some and sells it for what they are saying it should cost. Make some Red Baron art too while you are at it.

Just saying...

$350 for a working battlezone? Yeah I'm sure you find those all day long. Seriously?
I dont know why people on here always say they can buy machines at such cheap prices but yet a Battlezone boardset will get listed in the for sale section at a price of $225 and its gone within a very short time. So are we assuming that the rest of the machine including the monitor control panel etc etc is only worth a measly 125 bucks?

Even a less than perfect Battlezone is worth SOME money!

I sold my last good-condition working BZ for not much more that that + a little for delivery (and that was 180 miles one way btw) to a fellow member a few years ago...

BTW - the blue overlay was temporary so I could see what it looked like. I changed it back to green. I also fixed the other coin door light...

Here it is with new owner Matthew Broderick:

EDIT - Sorry, Sarah Jessica told me to get her man's picture off the internets...
