Ive always wanted a Firepower after reading the reviews and watching the vids.

It popped up on Craigslist last week and it was 24 Hours before I called on it......to my amazement it wasnt sold! Advertised as not working, listed for $400...I asked if I was wasting my time bringing $350. He said no so off I went.

He told me the playfield was in great shape but I didnt believe it. WRONG. The playfield has minimal wear around some inserts and is in incredible condition (I think)

Got it home and it would only light up all lights and do nothing else. I opened the coin door and quickly turned it off and on....BINGO! I played 10 games and had to pry myself from the game.
Everything works, all lights, Multi-Ball etc.
Guess it need a 5101 RAM from what ive read....no problem.

As all of the other pins Ive bought, I will completely disassemble it, touch up, clearcoat then play the hell out of it.

Backglass is OK, but Im not worried about that too much.

Nice score...check batteries first.

They were starting to leak, and the battery holder is trashed.
I 'modified' it with new solder and verified 1.6 volts at each battery on the board.
Same shit....

Good Buy !!! Make sure you replace those ugly white targets with red ones.

Wow! Nice score. One of Ritchie's top 3 games imo. The design is super simple, but really really good.

+1

Target decals are available.

I have two FP's - one to play while I restore the other when CPR does the playfield - already have a set of PF plastics. One is in my in-law's basement so I have something to do while I'm there.

You can really get the pinball flying - I think that's why the playfields all get so worn.

Is'n't it funny how people don't know what they have lying in there basement and don't care! Are we all not PICKERS!!!!!

See if the voltage from the batteries is actually getting to the 5101 with the game off.

Very nice score, love playing Firepower myself too, even if it isn't MY machine.

That being said, I doubt you have to replace the 5101 if it's actually playing games. Normally when they die the CPU won't function at all. Check TP7 to see if you're getting good voltage there, and also at pin 22 on the 5101. If the batteries are good, you should see voltage there even with the power turned off.

Had the same problem on my world cup(1978) It was the little diode that prevents backcharging. Replaced that and machine works fine.
