I use these for troubleshooting. It's a lot cheaper than replacing buss after buss.
 
Those are nice, but of course I wanted to have some fun, so here's what I built:

It's a programmable fuse: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=208253 ... basically it controls a relay based on the sensed current.

The 2 and 3 amp resettable fuses are used in "newer" furnaces. They can easily be salvaged. They cost between $10-$20, so getting them free is always a plus. Call a local HVAC contractor, and ask if you can pick through their old furnaces to salvage a couple of resettable fuses. I'm sure they'd oblige.
