With all the talk of people modding out their Trons, I wanted to share with you what I feel is the most effective (and cheapest) addition to my Tron Legacy Pinball: Stern under-cabinet lighting kit from Pinball Life. Sure, folks can spend $175 on LED backbox lighting kit and have a cool looking portal, or you can spend $20 and have this cool blue glow from underneath the cabinet.

Here's a pic from my Tron Legacy tournament I held in my basement this past weekend. Badass, if I do say so myself:

that looks badass. ordered one for myself.....and threw in two more no-glare DMD films while i was at it. :)

Oh, don't get me wrong, those LED kits look awesome. However, my point is just bang for the buck. $20 went a long way for this effect.

your TRON looks awesome. i love that LED effect in the backglass.

didn't you say yours was a custom job?

I live about 45 minutes from Michael aka Flipper Fidelity. He is where I got my Tron LE from and I told him I wanted to work on something special for the backbox when it came in. So I went to his house one weekend with the led strips that I bought and he built the backbox for me as I wanted it. I also got his speaker kit installed too.

Normally his kits are good to go as-is. For Tron, I didn't want any color changers in the backbox. For me, "There is no red in Tron". ;-) I wanted the portal to look just like it looked in the movie. It isn't 100% perfect due to the lack of size and brightness of the sequential leds but overall it turned out nice.

looks good nocash!

what's the current high score on that bad boy??

looks good. i prefer the LED strips over the "cold cathode" tubes/aka neon. the LED strips don't have to be removed to move the pin in a vehicle.

plus, it's a 4 dollar mod, your choice of colors. i did red under phantom of the opera, blue under BSD, and green under cirqus voltaire. granted, lights under a pinball machine is kind of a throwback to neon under a honda. but since i drive an old honda, it works...ha ha.
