Well I searched for a new Vision Pro for my game and came up short. Those who have them are keeping them... those willing to part are not letting them go for anything short of a small fortune... fair enough...

So now what...

Simple... I've a working G07 with hellatious burn, soooo I've bought a brand new tube, convergence rings, strips and a super dee duper G07 rebuild kit from Bob.

I've built an Amp from parts and that went pretty well and have converged a few vectors...never a raster though.

Im sure this will go fine...

good luck sir. there's really no replacement for the real thing. and it'll only look nicer if it's a newer style tube that's got the darker screen. :)

thats the main reason i hoard as many old "junk" monitors that i can get my hands on..

screw buying new, most of those new monitors lack the quality of the old ones ayways..

Agreed. I've had good success so far with fixing/re-building monitors instead of just throwing a replacement monitor in. G07's in particular have given me great pictures with a rebuild. :) No offense to someone that likes to replace monitors, but I'm not bothered enough by burn in to replace a monitor as long as it's from the same game. Plus I like to try and learn things as a I go and fixing a monitor is one way to do it.

this. I only wish I had more time to dedicate to tinkering with monitors. I only get a crack at the occasional capkit, most often times yielding no change in results too, hah.

screen burn adds character. my KI monitor's immaculate except for the energy bar burn at the top that you barely even see. it's a dedicated machine, so who cares, right?

the SFA2 burn on my SFA3 monitor however... kind of annoying. :)

I agree and generally don't mind burn as long as it is of the same game... In my case I have a badly burned Berzerk maze on my Gorf... Now it could even be sort of tolerable except the first mission in Gorf is a blue colored screen... the light color totally shows the burn... really bad.

Got the new tube installed, fired it up and the flyback was hissing like a cobra... freaked me out a bit...

Replaced the flyback and the B+ filter cap, adjusted B+ and its working great!!!! I started the convergence and it looks like its not going to be that painful...

Picture looks fantastic!

I'm definitely going to do it for my 4600 too.

For my qbert i just ended up building a monitor out of a old tv tube. pulled the tube, bought a frame, someone gave me a free chassis, capped it, new flyback, bought a yoke, rings, etc..needless to say i have a new burn free monitor with a great pic for around $100 +/-
