Cheap Sons-A-B!tches

So I hunt for a Jungle King Bezel for over a year. A forum member has one, asks a lot for it ($100 shipped), I make a respectable counter-offer ($75 shipped), he disappears like a typical little KLOV weasel. I keep looking. Find another one a few months later, it's as flaked as mine, so I pass. I see a nice one on eBay due to a thread here, I bid, I win it for $30 shipped. I wait 3 weeks for it to be shipped to me (it's only coming from Wisconsin BTB). It finally shows up today -

-in a million pieces. I am pissed. I paid for the insurance, so now I need to know what to do to get my claim started. I sent the seller an email already. He charges me $20 shipping w/ins and then proceeds to ship it between two bent pieces of cardboard and nothing else. To add insult to injury, he shipped it parcel post. WTF is wrong with people? Now I need to file a claim and I am STILL looking for a nice Jungle King glass. I hate.

People are just plain stupid. Its that simple. One thing I do dude when I win something fragile off ebay or somewhere else is I tell the seller this: "In no way am I insulting your intelligence by requesting this: please wrap this item up tight, with extra padding, bubblewrap, etc; so it will be able to withstand its upcoming shipment. If I need to pay a little extra in shipping to make this happen, so be it. I do not want the item damaged or broken into a million pieces upon arrival because of a poor packing job. I appreciate your time and effort." I say this no matter what their feedback or who they are. So far it seems to wake people up a little bit and puts them in touch with me; realizing I am a real person and its their responsibility to wrap the fucking thing right.

I believe I set the bar for all future shipments Phet receives. I packed that Vectrex so well no mater how you guys pack it will suck compared to the way I packed that Vectrex. However, no one here has access to a foam packing machine.

I agree with you Phet. I've received many arcade parts in less than acceptable packaging. I mean, how hard is it to find a box and at the very least, NEWS PAPERS. In your situation the seller didn't even try. What a prick.

Yeah I was scared to open that Vectrex for quite a few weeks as I never knew if I'd have time to get all the packing material out in one sitting. Damn that Vectrex is awesome. Thanks again man.

No problem. The packing should of came out in 2-4 pieces and that would be a good box to save if you ever sell it. I originally had it in packing peanuts then was concerned it wouldn't make it in one piece. It sounds like I choose wisely!

I feel your pain too Phet. I have had two cherry Dig Dug marquees that I have bought off of eBay end up on my doorstep in the same condition.

Here is the first.....

In the end, I was out whatever I paid. No insurance and the sellers could have given a rat's ass what condition the ended up in. I should have filed a Paypal dispute, but never did because I am a big pussy and didn't really want to deal with the backlash. I am still looking for a Dig Dug marquee, but those are much easier to come by then a Jungle King bezel....

If you didnt sign for the package and it is sitting on your doorstep you can call the carrier and say it arrived damaged with no signature. Or say you got nothing and they will just pay you. You can only do that once or twice before they investigate but still its your word against theirs and they have no signature.

I consider myself fortunate with shipping. I had a Centipede marquee sent to me recently. Typical folded over single layer of cardboard. It had F*ing forklift tracks across it. I didn't open it for days. When I did, it was perfect. Dodged the bullet there.

Best packing ever for a glass object was a slot machine belly glass I got from some lady on Ebay. It had practically a roll of bubble wrap on it then packed in a china packing box (the heavy double wall corrugated kind). I didn't buy bubble wrap for 6 months after that. I sent her a nice email thanking her for the packing job. The next best was a Sinistar bezel that was packed with a piece of 1/2" plywood on the back and then shrink wrapped with about 10 layers of wrap on it. I am still storing it that way until I get my Sini cabinet.

Some people get it, some don't and 90% of the Ebay shippers just don't give a damn.

I've only shipped one glass bezel, and I double-boxed it for a whopping $50 shipping cost (with the cost of boxes and packing added in)...

Hey, this isn't the FS forum! What are you doing here? BTB, 'your choice' is fine, but let a motherfucker know what's up. $100 shipped is pretty steep no matter who you are.

motherfucker

Quite possibly the best word in the English language.... excellent use Phet! :)

I've shipped glass bezels before with no damage.

I bought a Food Fight glass marquee that looked exactly like that. Poor packaging that's all.

Well this is going nowhere. Dude doesn't understand why after all the glass bezels he has shipped out, I am the first to 'complain'. Because I have a flimsy make-shift box full of broken fucking glass shards moron! I am trying to get my full $30 back as I paid for the insurance. He says he only insured it for the purchase price of $10, so that's what I'll be getting back. WTF? I pay $30, wait for nearly 3 weeks, get a poorly padded box of broken glass shipped to me Parcel Post no less, and get 1/3 of my money back? This makes zero sense to me. I told him that I ended up having to also shell out $65 more for a replacement glass, he says, "that just shows you what a good deal you got from me and that I sold it too cheap." It's in a million pieces you dumb shit, and I am still out $30! Some great deal. I hate these people.

Well all be damned. I just got a full refund of my $30.30 and the seller told me I sound like a good person. Sweet. I think these people are great. Disregard anything negative I might have said about them. All's well that ends well.
