Hey all!

I was having some problems getting an write error after a while of transferring Blitz 99 onto a compact flash card so I upgraded mame to 0.146 and there was also a newer version of CHDman. I'm trying to transfer the chd to my CF card and I think it's saying it's not recognizing it because I'm not sure how to update my CHD's with the new version of chdman. I'm pretty positive I'm doing the command right to put it on my card but now all it's saying is this.

"C:\Blitz99>chdman.exe extractraw -i C:\Blitz99\blitz99.chd -o \\.\PHYSICALDRIVE2

chdman - MAME Compressed Hunks of Data (CHD) manager 0.146 (May 21 2012)
Error opening CHD file (C:\Blitz99\blitz99.chd): invalid file"

Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks

Make sure to use an IDE to CF adapter and not a USB to CF on the computer.

I've done it this way on 100's of drives writing using a USB card reader.

Ideally, you should be using the same version of chdman that is for your particular romset, otherwise you may run into errors and issues when it tries to write it.

For example..
chdman -extract sfrush.chd \\.\PHYSICALDRIVEx (where x is the number of the physical drive that you see your compact flash shown in disk management)

Hope this helps

Your right. I found a V5 of Blitz '99 and it recognized it. There is are tons of bugs on the windows version of CHDman and that's why I couldn't update the chd. Everyone do not use the new CHDman unless it's nix or 64bit system. I have a 512 mb card and the file is under 512 and it's telling me it failed because of space. I found out that may be due to blank space they put on the hard drives. I ordered a 2GB cf card and will let you guys know how it goes.

Thanks

I had that problem too with a Blitz 2000 Gold Edition. I ended up using chdman v .131 and it worked fine. The only thing when my image was uncompressed it would not work on a 2 gig card because the image was over 6 gig uncompressed data so I got an 8gig card for it and it worked fine. So if you still get an error about hunks then the size of your card is not big enough for the image you have.

You may also need to be running command prompt window as admin. If your running XP or better not running the cmd window as admin really causes all kinds of crazy problems.
