When I first started collecting games it was with the intent to just get the games I remembered playing. After a while I started hunting the grails. A little later and I was going for games with unique controls. Today, I try to go for games that aren't as good on MAME and were my favorites back in the day. However, once again this is changing. Now I'm just going for a very small arcade collection that is basically a MUST HAVE list, and then I'm leaving toward pinball.

For people with a lot of space, they don't really have this issue. But for those out there like me that find space is quite limited, how often do you notice yourself changing up what you consider the keepers vs. the "revolving door" games?

I try to buy the games I remember playing, as they bring back those great memories. But I can't say that about the Captain Kid EM gun game I bought. I never played that before, but it was so cool I couldn't pass it up. The second generation of games I want to buy are older EM games that were mostly out of arcades by the time I started playing in the late 70's. I played an EM game called Sky Raider from 1958 a couple of months ago and loved it. Its the nostalgia of the really old games that I don't remember that I also like.

I went from games I liked, to just collecting cheap PCBs I could switch out, to games that would be good for parties/multiplayer, and then games my wife would enjoy.

When I first started collecting, I picked games I liked even though a lot of them were in conversion cabinets. All those are now gone. Now I have collected all the ones with fond memories in original dedicated cabinets. I have 3 games which are strictly party games, and a 4th one that is so unique it is fun playing. That one is Danger zone, where you swing the monitor around to point at shooting down airplanes and missiles. I also have 1 pinball.

I wouldn't mind a few more pinballs, even though I didn't get into them as a kid. Unfortunately price is always an issue with all the fun pins to play nowadays.

I'm learning to ignore games that I don't really want.

Apparently, I have also decided that since my games are in the garage, they should all be racing games. Not sure how that happened, but that is all that is out there except for the Donkey Kong and DK3. 9 people can play racing games in my garage!

Ive started collecing and setting up my gameroom much like the original arcade where I grew up...Lately though its just the deals I run accross and keep what I like sell the rest.

i started collecting games by manufacturer.. I'm on a nintendo kick right now, started with a popeye and now i have a dk jr, and a DK on the way. Looking for a DK3 now.

I have a problem where I'm limited on space but everything seems to end up in the keeper pile. I wrote down a list of games I really wanted in the basement but then I bought a star trek voyager cockpit and that really took up space so that kind of forced my game list to change oh well.

Too much space really IS a problem, I find my game collecting ideas have changed a lot. It used to be I couldn't pass up on 'deals', even if I didn't like the game. Of course thinking I would flip it later, never seems to work like I think it should. Today I pass on a lot of stuff I used to jump on. I am more focused on games I like. I think I have all the games I played as a kid. I've been really tuned in on Universal and Centuri games for a while. PLUS lately the idea of collecting all the sales flyers from games has been going on. I have 9 each 2" wide 3 ring binders with individual plastic protector sheets of 100's of original flyers. OCB, ADD, something......
