Okay, so I just bought a Paperboy a few days ago and I'm actually taking a look at it a little deeper for the first time. The first thing I try to do is set it to coin-op. It's set on free play now and I CAN'T F*CKING CHANGE IT! I can't seem to change any of the options. I assumed that it's because there are some dip switches somewhere, but I've checked all four boards and I don't see any switches. The sticker on the board says "rev. A". I feel really dumb for asking, but am I just blind or should I be able to change the coinage and difficulty from the test menu. Screen 1 allows me to reset the the credit totals and the high scores, but I've tried every button and movement combination on screen 2 of the test menu and nothing changes anything. I don't see the "!" cursor on screen two that I see on screen 1.

I think paperboys are one of those games where there could be a few ways to get into test mode depending on the components in your cab. There may be a test switch inside the coin door area. If your game uses the small atari amp board for the sound there is a small switch on that that allows you to put the game in test mode. And still another possibility is the
AR III board. Some of these have a small switch on them to go into test mode. Once you are in test mode you should be able to change your options on screen.

Thanks for the feedback, but I have no problem getting into test mode. The problem is that I can't change the setting on the second screen of the test mode once I'm in. I have no problem with the first screen. There is a "!" cursor that shows what you want to adjust. This cursor isn't found on the second screen though and I can't find any dipswitches anywhere.

The DIP's are on the CPU board. They are TINY TINY TINY... smaller than your average DIP switch... I mean TINY, but they are there.

Thanks for the help, folks. I really appreciate the manual link. Every manual that I found online was a different manual that had nothing but schematics on it. Yeah, those are the smallest switches I've seen so far. Much appreciated.

Thanks. I just did mine today. Looked over board 5-6 times before I finally saw them. Worked perfect.
