Changed the orientation of a WG4600 in a Capcom cabinet and now the door won't fit...

Changing the orientation of a horizontal monitor in a Capcom cabinet is fairly simple. Unscrew the wooden mount, pull the monitor and rotate.

I went and changed the orientation to vertical on my Capcom cabinet. The monitor is a WG4600. Once I changed it the door no longer fits.

One option is to cut a hole in the door to make room for the chassis and mount a Midway style back bubble (Gorf, Ms. Pac Mini) to make it fit.

Are there monitors with shallower/narrower chassis frames that will work better than a 4600? The neck board appears to clear the back, it's just the frame.

Transfer the tube and board into a universal mount frame. (getting one may or may not be a problem, monitors get parted out sometimes) It will alter how the frame mounts in the cabinet, so be prepared to deal with this, if applicable.

When you transfer to the universal mount, you can remove the support rails and the intended home for the main board, and just mount the board securely on the inside wall of the game. The monitor will now clear the back door. I have done this before and it works out fine.

Yep, you need either a vertical mount frame, or a universal mount frame. A while back I found a Dynamo cab with a 4900 in a multi-mount frame, and I kept it. I can put that monitor in either way and she fits fine. I'm never letting that frame go.

I went the fast route on a Capcom cabinet and just cut just the right size hole and installed a black painted house vent cover. Gave me about an extra 1.5" - 2".

It didn't look too bad and I'm sure you could find a more proper looking vent cover, but it worked out fine for me.

Was browsing through a camera card today, and found the picture I took of the universal mount chassis. Note how the corners are missing from the frame, making it possible to mount this monitor horizontally or vertically in the cab.

Well I got myself a VisionPro with a universal mount. Fits even worse than the WG standard frame. :(

That Cut-in shown in the photo above is what I need. I wonder if I'll ever be able to find one.

The Vision Pro looks great tho. The monitor is 2004 and was just capped. It looks great. I'm thinking Ms. Pac-Man bubble again.

It's sitting here, waiting for you, on my bench. I swapped it out knowing you were coming this upcoming weekend :)

See you Saturday...
