Well...

We looked at a new house... then looked at remodeling the garage into a new workshop... BUT... Today we got word that our offer was accepted on another house we looked at. It has an over the garage apartment and I'll have that and the garage for a new, MUCH larger workshop and office.

Oh, and a pool for the kid... and a guest room where I'll have a couple of games + the game consoles along with a big LCD for 'em.

:D

Congratulations and good luck with the new place. That also looks to be the first season or first episode intro for The Jeffersons. Great show. :)

Next city to the north: Highland Village. We'll be across the street from the lake. :)

Pics or it didnt happen!

As soon as it happens... ;)

We put the escrow down yesterday... Talk to the bank again Monday, inspection is scheduled for Tuesday...

Whew!

Time to blow out a bunch of stuff.

Congrats! I grew up 1 block away from the "Jefferson's" luxury hi-rise building on East 86th street, during the same time that show was filmed! Thanks for that blast from the past!

Banks suck...

FUCKERS!

OK... Now they are telling us that since the house is of log cabin style construction that they can't find any comparables. This means they can't sell the loan off (Fannie Mae rules of some sort...) but they'll take the risk if we put down THIRTY PERCENT and pay SIX PERCENT INTEREST.

Sigh.

We're still waiting on the appraisal too.

Looks like this house may be a no-go after all. Sucks too since it is >1000sq ft bigger than where we are now and the above garage apartment would've been a most excellent workshop.

This feels like they are putting the hard one in our back side just because they can.

What sucks soooo bad is that the house started at 229k when it was listed (211 days at the time we looked at it initially) and dropped to 199 when we looked. We offered 190k and it was accepted.

After the inspection came back with some show stoppers we lowballed the fuck out of the seller and was accepted at 164k if we take care of the issues. Now the bank is dicking with us.

Sigh.

It even had new kitchen, new floors/bathrooms throughout... new appliances (except no fridge)... and an in-ground pool.

This is so depressing.

Stay the coarse.....164k I'd take that in a second. I just closed a home and having owned 3 homes in 14 years the bank was a PIA on this one. You'll get it just hang in there.

Sorry to hear about the problems. Paying $50K up front when you also need to shell out for the repairs sucks. Did you consider taking a loan on your current house instead?

Either way, I hope you can work something out. Sounded like a much nicer place for all your hobbies. :)

Sorry to read/hear about it.

But, everyone should know by now, the banks ARE out to stick it to you.

I could go on and on about them.

Hope you get it worked out.
