I just got a nice NIB 4675 and it appears to be set with a horiz mount. Is there a really simple way to change this to vertical mount for my galaga cabinet?

My guess is that I have to take apart the mount on both displays and swap them... I am in the middle of this project now.

Galaga monitors are horizontal frames attached to brackets and then slid into the cab vertically....

So, you have your's in a vertical frame now? If the Galaga already has a 4600 in it, then you can just swap everything over to the other frame.

otherwise you should track down a K4600 horizontal frame (not hard to find) so you'll have all the mounting stuff in the right place.

otherwise you'll have to drill holes for the plastic chassis frame pieces for a standoff, figure out where to mount the flyback, etc. Also, some 4600 frames have the degaussing coil mounted in a shield behind the tube rather than around the tube itself, so you'll have to move that, too.

Now, if you want to get creative, you could get a 48" U-shaped shelf bracket from Home Depot, cut two pieces from it to attach to the mounting tabs on the vertical frame (long enough to reach out a little past the length of the tube on each end), attach THOSE brackets to the brackets that go on the horizontal frame, and then slid it in....

details

The new monitor is the 4675. vertical

The old one is the 4906. horiz with the metal bars for galaga.

So either take apart both completely and remount or buy 1 new frame that works for the 4675 in galaga? Who's got the new frames that I need? It might be worth spending some money and saving time perhaps as an option.

Chris25810 and Phet are a lot closer and probably got one lying around somewhere. I have one or two, but dunno if you need to pay to ship something like this...

in the meantime

The new display needs a 2 pin molex connector. I have the pins crimped on.

Stupid question - sanity check
This is AC going to the plug so the pin positions should not matter, correct? I don't see anything in the PDF or on the chassis board labeled, so that's why I'm asking.

working

I have the monitor working... just need to figure out the frame issue / plan.

I cannot believe how bright the display is and how vivid the colors are compared to the old monitor! Truly amazing.
