Championship Sprint - Wells 19" K7203 - 15.XKhz & 17Khz switch??

I tried to replace my monitor in my Championship Sprint with a Wells 19" K7203 and the screen was all garbled up like it was not syncing correctly. So some searching and it appears that the game requires a medium resolution monitor. I have another Wells 19" K7203 that has an external switch next to the chassis that has 15.X Khz and 17 Khz positions. Will that one work? Is that what the switch is for (changing between Standard and Medium resolutions?) Also, I'm guessing that the original K7203 w/o the switch is only standard resolution?
Thanks!

Ah, thanks. Thought it was something like that. The monitor with a switch, I pulled it out of a Pole Position.

Wait a second... I mis-remembered. I think that's actually NOT medium res. Medium resolution is on the order of 21khz - the same as EGA.

17khz... I'm not sure what that is, exactly. I know some games used slightly different sync rates... maybe this one just goes a bit higher? Anyone know a game that actually used a 17khz monitor, or is this really just a medium res monitor labelled oddly?

I've seen dual-sync monitors with switches before. But I'm not so sure this is one of them now.

Try it out - worst case, it won't sync.

k7203 has that switch.. and it is labeled 15.75 or 17

Great picture on those monitors.. I have a couple of them

Exactly....that is what we are discussing.
What is the switch used for? Switching between Medium and Standard Resolutions?

Standard Resolution - 15.72 KHz
Enhanced Resolution - 16.50 KHz
Medium Resolution - 25.00 KHz
VGA Resolution - 31.55 KHz

*Thanks bryan

I saw Ken Layton answer this once, but I can't find it now.

I believe it was for slight differences in frequencies when the monitor was used overseas and the 220 was stepped down. Could be wrong though...
