Hello, I've got one of those CGA/VGA converters that I am trying to use on my test bench.

(the ones that look like this

)

problem is about 1/2 of my boards when I use the converter will have a corrupted frozen screen. The game is playing but it's like the video display board is confused (sync issues?) and the screen is often frozen and usually garbled.

I konw the boards works fine, as if I pop them on a normal CGA monitor no problems.
wondering if this is maybe a bad board or if this is a common issue for those converter boards.

-thanks
brian

You've got one of the old ones with the bad firmware. I had the same issue. I bought one from Jammaboards and it works great. Haven't met a board it won't work with yet. Unfortunately, you'll have to get a new one...

Or if you're more comfortable using Ebay, here is the same converter via jammaboards.com's Ebay account...

Yeah tried that just got a new frozen screen.
Ordered a new board from Jamma boards hopefully will arrive soon.
Should have bought from there to start previous board was an eBay cheaply.

I also am having this problem with a Centipede conversion. I have the green boards. I've had these boards for over a year and now all 3 of them having the same issue. Ugh can I use these older boards in anything else then since I'll have to buy the new style?
