I am installing a CGA to VGA converter (model Gbs8220) board in my Neo Geo cabinet and would like to use the optional rgb converter cable included instead of the 5 pin (cannot find the right kind of 5 pin connector). Question is this. The wiring diagram lists a h sync wire which is not on the Neo harness. Will the converter work without the h sync hooked up? Logic says yes, but I figured I would ask before cutting wires.

Try it one way, and if it doesn't work, try it the other. Hooking up the sync wrong won't damage anything. Most monitors just take composite sync on one of the pins, some want it jumpered to both H and V inputs.

That said, I don't know anything about those converter boards. I've only worked with real monitors.

Surely the board can accept composite sync.. You'll have to look into making a sync seperator in the very unlikely event that it doesn't.
