Thanks, that's really good to know, if I ever need to grab another I will try that route.

No worries you got a good one from taki! He's not bad just almost never has any stock. These chinese sellers always are ready to go at a good price. I just posted that so anyone else interested could see the source. Also qmtech is selling units like the one I got with actual soldered on ram expansions instead of plug in modules, little better and gives you more options for expand-ability.Thanks, that's really good to know, if I ever need to grab another I will try that route.

There's an older image you can use on a 3B. But yeah under $40 is going to be a challenge.when i was looking into it a while back i was trying to keep the cost for anything under
$40 but those things i only saw for $59.99 or more so i just gave up since there isnt more info out theere about doing this, i also only have a 3b+ so that doesnt help much either
thats why i gave up on that plenty of cheap ways to go from the game board to an lcd but not the other way around really annoyingThere's an older image you can use on a 3B. But yeah under $40 is going to be a challenge.
looks like you have heat sinks on what appears to be level translators . these chips will not produce enough heat to merit this- Rpi 4

I'm assuming what you are talking about is the MisterCade, not the Mister? Big difference.I'll definitely get a mister fpga then. Maybe not immediately but it seems like the next logical move. I may make another multi cab for my dad one day and I'll put my current pc setup in it because he doesn't want a crt cause it "hisses" and I'll put a mister in my current setup in the TMNT cab. Thanks for the help guys now I've got another project to work on haha
Yeah the Steam games is fine I don't need them. Being able to play cupheads and tmnt shredders revenge on a crt with joysticks is cool but not a deal breaker. Yes the mistercade but I'll do some more research when I'm ready to start building a cabinet around one to find out which works best for me.I'm assuming what you are talking about is the MisterCade, not the Mister? Just keep in mind it won't run Steam, not sure if that's a deal breaker or not for you. I've done the PC to CRT thing, but with Steam, most games won't natively support lower resolutions, which is challenging. Most are widescreen too, so you may see the black bars, etc assuming it supports 640 x 480 or lower. I had a 27" Betson Multisync monitor which supported 800 x 600 and plugged in using a VGA connector. And I still had issues finding games to support my setup.
Also, the MisterCade won't run EVERY game in MAME. The core needs to be available for it. For example, if the Core for CPS2 is available for FPGA, then all the games for that system are available, etc. Cores get added/tweaked over time. You should Google exactly what's supported.
Also, there's no shame in emulation until you get what you need. A buddy of mine has the RecalBox (a standalone JAMMA emulation device that's Android based). I was pretty impressed on what it offered. Not shabby at all.
Good Luck!

Mistercade is just a mister on a JAMMA adapter. Depends on how David Jenkins has his cabinet setup if a regular mister or JAMMA mister would work better, if he's got the JAMMA harness than that's his best option but if not he could just manually make all the connections to the monitor, sound amp, joysticks etc using the misters io for cga output and usb to arcade encoders for controls. It's not a big deal either way.I'm assuming what you are talking about is the MisterCade, not the Mister? Big difference.
