Centuri "Swimmer"... Not a Game You See Everyday!

And the best part is I just picked it up yesterday after a drive from San Antonio to Austin. It's a dedicated Centuri/Tehkan "Swimmer," and is definitely an obscure game, but it's actually really fun. It is working 100%, in about B condition. Over the next few days I'm going to touch it up a bit just to get everything looking a bit nicer.

Here is an overall shot of it after cleanup. (Gluing down peeling stickers, a bit of touch- up paint here and there, sanding and painting bolts)

Sadly, this is all there really is left of the side art. The other side has only a tiny bit of art still stuck towards the bottom of the cab.

A quick pic of the inside.

The kickplate art looks pretty sweet. And the coin door is in awesome condition, but the left mech doesn't work. Should be an easy fix.

Finally, here is a picture of some of the cab disassembled for cleaning. (Just realized I forgot to put the smoked plexi bezel in the pic, but whatever.)

Still needed: A new fluorescent tube to light up the marquee, the current one is burned out.

Also, I need to find out a way to get the ingrained dirt of the control panel. Any ideas? I have heard that a "Magic Eraser" works well for this. Anyone try that before?

congrats on the Swimmer. I love mine too. The artwork makes that game. Perhaps enough of us can get a side art repro set made. I have one intact side, the other about 80% complete. All other art, kickplate and interior above monitor is complete.

For control panel, remove all buttons and joystick. Spray some easy off oven cleaner on the panel and use a magic eraser. If eraser doesn't work, then resort to tooth brush.

Make sure you work in ventilated area, easy off is nasty $hit.

I see one everyday! Matter of fact, I'm looking at it now. I enjoy playing it too!

I'll admit, you got me there!

Some full side art would be awesome. I would be interested in a repro set, but the cost would have to be pretty high. I also need a new interior side art, because one side is about 50% missing. The other looks pretty nice, so I may be able to scan it and trace in photoshop to put on the damaged side.

I think I will probably use your Magic Eraser idea. The control panel isn't disgusting by any means, but it could look nicer.

Did you get that one in Kyle that's been on Craigslist forever?

Damn! I knew I should have gotten it before, but I was a bit tapped out at the time....

I sure did. I had seen it posted before but wasn't really interested. Then I tried it on MAME, and kinda liked the game, and the cab art. So I offered the guy (who was very nice by the way) 100$ and he took the offer.

Nice pickup. If it had been available today I was going to offer $100.00 to the guy. It had been listed multiple times. :)

always liked swimmer. fun music even if it's annoying.
