So I recently acquired a Centipede. It wouldn't power up. After some investigating, I discovered that the one 20A fuse was flip flopped with a 4A fuse. After switching those, the game booted into test mode and showed no errors.

After being happy to discover the game worked, I exited test mode. When the game begins, it flashes through different screens and randomly beeps. It basically generates random stuff and never starts up.

Where should I start on this?

It got though test mode? And no Beeps? If you have a known good pokey try swapping the pokeys.

I can get some video. That might help.

I have a spare board with another POKEY. Not sure if it works. I will give it a shot.

I found this which I thought was interesting. A random jumper and ab section of ICs with some burn marks on the solder joints.

That's just a repair someone did. The wire is to presumably bypass a suspected bad trace, and the brown stuff is just old crappy flux that they didn't remove.

May or may not be related to your issue. That flux looks very old, so I would lean against it, as it was likely repaired a long time ago.

I agree with Brian's suggestion of swapping the Pokey, and also doublecheck test mode closely to make sure you aren't getting any errors indicated.
