I bought a Centipede locally that looks and works great. Only thing is the trackball moves the shooter around more slowly than I remember. I remember zipping across the screen with a flick and making micro moves with my fingertips. This one "sorta zips" when flicked and the ball must be rolled more for a smaller move.

I looked in the manual and all over the test screen and could only come up with an "easy" or "hard" gameplay option that had no bearing on the trackball. Is there a way to adjust its sensitivity?

More times than not, the problem with these are bad/corroded rollers (or bearings) causing the optic wheel to not spin correctly. It's a pretty easy and inexpensive repair. Just have to be comfortable with a Phillips screwdriver. :).

What I like to do it brillo the shafts to clean gunk and rust off, then with the bearings just use a 💧 or two of 3 in one oil. You'll be amazed the difference that it makes

Exactly. If the rollers are REALLY grooved, they'll need to be replaced. But if they are mostly just gunked/rusted, they can be easily cleaned up and work mostly like new.

twisted quarter sells trackball kits for $27 each (new shafts rollers, bearings, and trackball) I just got mine in, and took me 5min to get both installed...def worth it.
